Nothing sounds as sweet as a "Kaw One Thou" at full song with a four into one header...

Who knows? Harleys might sound cool wide open...but none ever got close enough for me to hear! [IMG]

I think Harley's sound like shit especially with drag pipes. Sounds like an old VW that's missing. Now a Ducati with a 2 -1 and reverse megaphone, that's music....

It's funny... I'm seeing a lot of mentions about CB550's being cheap. Being recently transplanted from the West Coast, I was seeing a different story. The CB series of Hondas (400F, 550F, 750F) have become quite collectible out there for a while now. To find one cheap is somewhat difficult because they've become "cult status" bikes. To get one that is a stocker, clean, had some reworking can easily run $1500! They're great bikes though! A few mods and you will have a great cafe racer!

This is making me want to hit the local classifieds to see what might be out there! One can never have too many cars or bikes!

They're out there-- my neighbor just GAVE me his old xs650, I just had to help him get it out of the rafter in his shop. I need a shift fork and reassemble the tranny (anyone got a yammy shop manual (not clymer) they can scan a exploded veiw out of?)

Its true, they are out there! Last year I bought 2 xs650s both with titles for 100 bucks. Only one ran (poorly) but still for the price I couldnt turn away. At the time I wasnt interested in Jap bikes, so I sold them for 800. bucks and put that money into my Triumph. I wish I still had that guys number. He had a SWEET cb750 that he only wanted 300 bucks for. I really want to build a cafe bike at this point.

I am putting a KZ 1000 engine in a KZ 750 Frame it is a bit tight and I work on it until it pisses me off and I push it into the corner for a while then I go back to beating on it. Scored the engine but no title for that bike and had the 750 but the engine was toast the 1000 engine barely clears the tank. I also have 98 Triumph Thunderbird Sport that is my main ride whata grin that one is.

I had my Monster for a full 3 days before the stock exhaust was ditched in favour of the Remus Race Cans....Ahhhh...thats better.....

It was a choice between a 3 yr old Triumph Thunderbird Sport or a brand new Ducati for the same money when I got mine....Guess I'll have the Duke then I said [IMG]

Mid 70's Jap bikes go forever!

All I've had is Harleys but anything that will put you in the wind and not give you a bunch of headaches is what it's all about.
Love the Dukes, nothing sounds sweeter than a desmo.
Don't know if their worth a shit but I always liked those 650 thumper Savages.
Old uglyassed Goldwings are on the cheap and can be cool in their own way when stipped to the bone buzzardwing style, can't kill "em
There's also just something about a CBX but you don't see them much.
Also I like the dual purpose bikes like the Suzuki dr 650 and Yammy has one too, or the Beemer GS models Pari-Dakar style.
I always liked the British bikes but they seem to be finnicky and need too much tinkering.

Well, my grandfather was one of those guys who was being bombed in Pearl Harbor, and he thinks that people who make a big deal out of buying Japanese products because of something that happened over half a century ago are morons.

    So there's your answer.

    They'd probably say:
    - 'You know Bob, war sucks hairy moose balls.'
    - 'Darn right Johnny, hairy moose balls indeed.
It's a good thing after fifty years we are now enjoying healthy trade relations with that country.
    - 'Bob, Speaking of hairy moose balls, what's in that Maki roll?'

By that stupid reasoning we should quit riding Triumphs and BSAs and quit speaking the English language because the British invaded us in 1812 and burned down the White House.

Anyone who keeps up that "But they bombed Pearl Harbor" nonsense, IS a moron and probably a bigot because they NEVER include German or Italian products in their hate list.

Hey the japs are cool, there probably more japanese greasers living the american hot rod way of life than most people realize, if they can own an american vehicle, which there are a lot over there, and not have any hard feelings towards us than we can chop or bob a jap bike, and not have to feel bad or listen to some faggot give us aline of shit for the bike being japanese. Most of those faggots just have all the factory authorized appareal along with that stupid flamed head rag on his fuckin head with no bike! It was an honest question as to what the general population was thinking not an opinion so get off the pulpit and quit being rude.

I think it's rude that SOMEONE seems to bring it up damn near every time Japanese products are mentioned, and I'm damn tired of it.
It's an old and tired comment and it should just go away.
I'm talking about the question not the the questioner.

Besides, Hondas are made in Ohio... By Americans possibly of British, German, Japanese, Native, and Italian descent...

I'm not sorry for anything I said.

Well since "new" Harleys reached the "over 50%" foreign parts a few years back. Who the F#ck cares? The general public doesn't. Jap bikes are the most bang for the buck. They make good bobbers. They are cheap. The are faster. They generally handle better. So WTF? Do what you got to do. XS650 are the deal right now. Especially with the 750 kit in them..

Well, my grandpa was in Germany in WW2, and all during the 60's till he died in 85' he drove vw's. If you only buy american made products you better get off your computer, I doubt it's 100%, and don't watch tv, one hasn't been made here in years.

I torched the rearmost baffle plates offa/outta my stock XS650 pipes... Sounds NOICE. Next day my neighbor asks "Damn, dude, you got a Harley now too?"

"HEEELL NO will I have one of those fuckin things unless someone GIVES me one!"

I've always said the same thing. But I think the resistance to Japanese products and not German or Italian is that Japan did bomb us. That's what makes them more hated than Germany or Italy. Maybe.

  29. The older Honda 750's are cheap and can be pretty cool. There used to be a lot of aftermarket parts available that are not as easy to find these days, but there are some really cool parts out there. Through out the years I collected parts for my still undone 750F project. It has a Drouin Blower with a Weber carb. The Vertex mag was a VW unit. The aluminum GS 1100 Suzuki swingarm (off my other bike) provides a slight wheelbase stretch. The Yamaha VMax is another really fun bike, that is fast stock and can easily be made faster. Performance parts are not readily available off the shelf, but that is what Hot rodding is all about, right?.
