been lurkin around for awhile and figured i would finally register. been quite a few times when i felt like throwin in my two cents but was unable to. as far as background goes, i have a 32 ford 3w coupe and a 41 ford coupe . in the choppers car club out of burbank. thats about it, Deron.
Didja build 'em or buy 'em Propmaster? Pics? What's a propmaster? In coastal areas, that would mean that you really know how to fix boats
Welcome to the board, it's the best thing on the net, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that. Been to Viva the last couple of years and seen you and your clubs cars, they are killer! sled
so i am not new to the internet, just new to bulletin boards, so bare with me. i will try to get up some photos. if i am unsuccessful, try hop up mag cover for the 41 pics. regarding my job, i am a tv commercial propmaster. i deal with handprops on a set. regarding my cars, i bought the 41 ford in 1993. it was a stock body that a buddy of mine chopped and did the body modifications. i handled all of the suspension, mechanicals, motor tune, rewire, brakes, etc. the deuce was bought in 2000. it was a sixties hot rod that was chopped and need of a mechanical going thru. i handled the lionshare of that with the exception of the motor rebuild with lance in the club, and my friend lynn with some front suspension help. carbs, brakes, rewire--all me. i guess you have to buyem before you can buildem. thanks for the replies and welcomes. D
welcome aboard dragnut. you choppers do have some nice iron! Tell chopper Lance the Austin gang says howdy!
welcome Dragnut.. I bet you already checked out our topic about you guys and the show. Well let me just tell you, that I personally thought it was cool, and very well done. Always respected what you guys do.. I'm sure you can add some knowledge here also.. welcome
Welcome to the HAMB Deron. Hope you enjoy this site and mingle with a lot of people just like yourself. It's really cool that you liked what i had to say in the "Rides" rhetoric. I love your '41 by the way. it's just a kickass car. your '32 is awesome too, in fact your whole club is awesome. Hope you stick around for awhile.
i by no means intend to hijack Deron's post here but i need to address a HAMB issue. My apologies Deron, but it needs to be done. I know that there are a lot of HAMBers that want every new member to post an intro before they can post anything else. So Deron makes an intro and it's viewed more than 900 times and only 9 people reply and welcome this guy. what's the point of doing an intro if only a few people respond to it? why view an intro and then not welcome the new member? i'm not complaining or whining, i'm just trying to make a point. can someone make a rational explanation as to this mentality?
Hey Deron, Welcome to the HAMB. I tried to send you a PM, but you're not accepting them (no doubt flooded with "Rides" fan mail). Hehe. No email addy either, so, I'll have to ask ya here. There's a kick-ass black '40 Ford coupe custom in "Retro Rods" by Dan Burger and Robert Genat. It's got an awesome chop, Chevy grille, Desoto bumpers, skirts, sombreros, and a "Choppers" decal in the windshield. Was wondering if this is your '41 (maybe author's listed it as a '40) or if it is a different car? I have loved that car since seeing it in the book, and it sure looks like the one shown hauling down the road on "Rides". Anyway just wanted to confirm if this is the same car, and if you're the same guy? Regardless, welcome, and hope to see you round the HAMB. -murph
i understood the word mentality, does that help? ,if you post welcomes you will no doubt raise another hamber to start kicking you about your welcome , i guess each newbie invites their own level of existing hambers comments and welcomes ,kind of the way i have been noticing the hamb welcomes new intros, this could move to the next level of paying to join the forum, then everyone is on equal terms from the start, you pay t obe here ,commenting or not ,good notice from you though
As per my "promise" to 133...Welcome to the HAMB, Dragnut! As for why some newbies get better welcomes...lots of reasons. Like... 1. What day/time they post an intro. Out of those 900+ views, lots of them are lurkers, no doubt. 2. Pics always help an intro get more buzz. 3. More info in the intro doesn't hurt, either. 4. How many people does the newbie know on the board? How vocal is that group of friends? This seems to affect things as well. 5. Is the newbie a female? By far, this one thing seems to contribute the most radical amounts of replies. Not that it's "right", but it's the way it is. 6. How many other intros are being posted at or around the same time? Lots of intros=less enthusiasm from the peanut gallery. 7.Sadly...Not nearly as much fun welcoming somebody that does fit in as it is to bash somebody who doesn't. I'm sure there's more reasons, but these are some that popped into my head. Not trying to hi-jack Dragnut's thread...just trying to answer 133's questions. So...speaking of pics (#2)...let's see some pics, Dragnut! I'm sure you've got some cool rides to share with the rest of the class.
I love a good mystery... Earlier in this thread I was trying to figure out if Deron's '41 Ford was the black coupe I first saw in "Retro Rods" (by Burger and Genat, first published in 2001). I also thought I recognized it on Rides last week. So I reached for my trusty copy of Hop Up annual #5 and all was revealed. Turns out I did see it, but it was actually Verne Hammond's black '40 Ford coupe that I saw in the book and on Rides. Note that Deron's '41 Ford coupe is green and was also shown on Rides. BOTH are excellent examples of early customs done RIGHT! Deron, definitely post some pics of your killer kemp when you have some time... I'd love to see more than the partial shots in Hop Up #5. Sorry for the mixup guys! -murph
Hey man, welcome to the HAMB. Did we meet at the Primer Nats? I was talking to Verne and Keith with my friend Tracy. I met so many people though it's hard to remember. Funny you're on here today, I JUST finished watching the RIDES dvd. Very cool. You guy's represented well.
really???? you had to dig up a 5 year old post to put up pictures of your car? why not just start your own thread?
