My brother swears by it. He uses a straight 30W conventional oil mixed with 1 quart of lucas additive every 3k miles. His '79 International Scout II has 360k original miles on it. The lifters sounds like a typewriter but it's still his daily driver lol... the Lucas has prolonged it's life for sure. You should hear it run without the additive... yikes...

    It's a 345 4V engine incase anyone is wondering...

  3. i add it everytime i do an oil change, worn out motor or not. most of the racers i know swear by it.

I saw a test on line by " ? the oil guy" it showed the Lucas additive would cause severe foaming, lots of pictures of the tests."Back in the Day" when I was dirt track racing a lot of the guys swore by Wynn's Friction Proofing I used it for years, pisses me off it's not available over the counter anymore. There was a link to the Lucas test on Hotrodders.com

    Love it.
Original oil addative. Rear lube. Trans addative. Fuel cleaner worked on my girlfriends daily when it was gunking up and sputtering.
****, I put the oil addative in a dead saganaw box and it freed it up.
Trans addative saved two OT daily driver transmissions in friends cars. (which probably could have used a quart of anything not burned up)
    Anyway... love it.

Of course, I have never run two identical units side by side with and without...

  8. Used it in the Rocky33, that ol flatty ran better and leaked less with Lucas additive.

My buddies girlfriend (who was always mean to me) had a Corolla with over 200,000 miles on it. She maybe changed the oil once. It developed a TERRIBLE knock in the valve train. Not very willing to put too much effort into it, I poured seafoam in the crankcase and ran it. Knocking went away but ticking ensued. Changed oil. Ticking stayed consistent. Poured lucas oil additive in and ticking went away as I was pouring it in. Somehow I view it as a band aid. But it served it's purpose then.

I will NOT be running Lucas in my Hemi. Too many different opinions from motor guys that I respect.

I have honestly used every single Lucas product they make. Even the powersteering additive on a junky old '99 Mustang I was trying to flip LOL... it worked! It quieted down that steering pump and it quit leaking. I've had it quiet down noisy old manual tranmissions and rear diffs too.

I've never heard of the foaming issue... but i've never ran any type of additive in my race engines. They've all held up fine without it. I usually use the additive once a daily driver starts wearing out. The 300 inline six in my '95 F150 has 224k original miles on it. It's been getting Lucas since about 200k and it's just as quiet as ever. It's been a great engine though...

  11. I use it in my 350 and my M-22. No problems.

I use the trans stuff in my beater '92 Cougar. The car had a leak and would drain enough fluid to cause it to slip,I topped it off with the lucas and so far,so good.

I know your convinced... But. I love it too. I am typically a HUGE Valvoline fan. But I use Lucas stabilizer in my pulling tractors, Lucas SAE 30W in the mowers and the trans additives and rear gear lubes in the truck. The fuel system cleaner/lubricator also makes a noticable difference in my '01 F150 with 101K.

    I recommend it. But I'm a newbie...

  15. i was just at the stadium and that was pretty slick too
but i have used it in my cars it it worked as described

My '36 with a 283 has developed a leak since I changed the oil and went to some 5W40. A friend told me about the Lucas but I can't find the oil stop leak additive. Which chain carries the stuff? I'm in San Antonio and I know Carquest can't get it but they carry all the other Lucas stuff.

..had a 69 Chev pickup with a 350 that leaked oil, not bad but didn't like it dripping; a friend suggested using Lucas oil additive,. I did, and within a 1000 miles that engine never drip'd again,...after that I used it on every 2nd or 3rd oil change with no problems.
You can usually find Lucas products at NAPA stores or truck stops.

I've had a few cars go over 300k. I do not resort to quick fixes like that. I've replaced the offending seals and or gaskets. I use good motor oil and change it regularly. Most of those snake oils have seal swelling additives and thickeners. Kinda defeats the idea of using the proper viscosity of oil. I really don't understand not wanting to fix something correctly.

10-4 on that one 40 Standard

The only thing that would be better if the Colts left town was if they took the Pacers with them

In my case,it's a $500 car that I don't plan on keeping more than 2 more years. I try to spend as little on it as possible, just whatever it needs to stay running, and get me from point a to point b safely. If it's something I plan on keeping,I'd definitely fix the problem before using any additives.

A rusty '92 Cougar with just a tad under 200k on it? Honestly,I bought it to use for school, once I get done I'll go back to using my pickup truck. I have too many other projects going to fiddle around with that car anyway.

I wouldn't touch it with yours:eek: - heard too many horror stories from really qualified professional race engine builders. In a word: Prolong - and it works in engines as well!:D
