With all the interest and knowledge on the old sprint car thread, I wondered who was still involved in sprints. I ask about starting a thread for those who are and was incouraged to do so. My son races asphalt sprinters here in Florida, One club with wings and one without. A part time season with a new car owner this season but gearing up for a full season next year. He is also the go to guy for race car lettering and graphics in this area. No body wants my paint brush anymore so he gets the nod for carring on the torch. Sume pictures of him as well as some of his work. Ted

Dirt's for racin', asphalt for gittin' there. This picture is from East Bay '06. Unfortunately there is not much dirt sprint racing in Florida anymore and the asphalt variety is shrinking too.

I pit on a 360 injected sprint car weekly in Oklahoma City, and last year I got to pit on a 410 during the Knoxville Nationals. I have got two cars to paint this winter and my brother is getting a vinyl cutter so we don't have to pay the sign guy to letter them.

I have been helping a couple of young brothers and their dad for years here in the pnw region. Their names are Cody , Jarod , and Randy Ridge. They are a low buck mostly family funded operation and our most recent claim to fame was a second place finish this last summer for Jarod in Cottage Grove Oregon on the World of Outlaw Tour and second in the NW ASCS Racing Series. Randy is a former multiple year champion at Skagit Speedway in the 360 and 410 classes. The kids are 3rd generation racers and Cody is currently running mini sprints.

Funny you should that... That's the exact reason I retired. You can't build Hot rods full time, and race (correctly).

I've been involved with sprint cars since '73 when my father bought his first Trevis sprinter. Took my first ride in '76. Here's a pic of my latest ride at Trailway Speedway here in Pa. Don't know what my plans are for '09, my car owner has retired from the sport and sold all his stuff. If I can find enuff sponsor $s, I have a car and equipment to race, but, right now its for sale.

You guys are right. To do it correctly requires a lot of preventative maintenance and the best you can afford. No use putting my kid on the track unless the car is safe and a front runner. My 56 big window and my 32 roadster parts are just sitting there waiting.

]I don't race, but I'm at a lot of the dirt races around Indiana and then the Chili Bowl for the midgets (the best race of the year). I make carbon fiber parts for the cars. You can see one of my shock covers on Al Consoli's picture with Brian Clauson flipping thruogh the air. If any of you racers out there need carbon fiber stuff, let me know.

Nice lookin at the pics wonder if anyone might have a pic. laying around of Steve Kinsers WOO championship winning 1985 Gambler. I have this car and would like to see what it looked like as raced. I asked Steve if he had pics and he referred me to Karl who referred me to Gambler they sent a packet of pics of car during construction but not painted as raced. I was told there was a feature in Open Wheel mag. but haven't been able to track it down any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hey Dallas how ya been?

As for the Gambler house car paint scheme IM not 100% positive but a google search came up with these pics I think one of them would be the right paint scheme so that would narrow it down some

I agree. This is why I don't get anything done on my other cars (or have the money to). I have been trying to quit for a few years, but I am getting close. This photo is my ARDC midget at a test at Port Royal P.A. in 2009

I don't race anymore but I have a nice Donovan block and some Weld Tech heads I hope to use in a Hot Rod someday. Other than those pieces you can't give away 5 year old sprint car parts.

Thanks for that reply I see one of those was from 1986 so wouldn't be my car it was returned to Gambler after 1985 season then resold to Eric Slade who raced it several years in Mi. area then sold to another team last raced in 1994. but I'll keep looking
