cold as helll here in Minnesota. 10s - 20s at night supposed to be even colder tonight.

BUT...... last night i was cutting, grinding & polishing some aluminum pieces & it was getting HOT rounding the edges & when i polished them but my ol wheelbarrow was right outside the door with 2" of ice in it & i just opened the door & set the parts in there for a cooling off, it worked great! seems like i can polish frozen aluminum alot longer before it gets toooo hot to handle!

a couple guys stopped over to use my **** & the case of beer they brought & set 'outside the door was 'icy cold!'

i have spiders in the garage. i like em but i swept a couple big ones out & man i never saw spiders run that fast!! last i saw of em was headin down the driveway (lookin for a new warm spot) & they were REALLY MOVIN!!:D

The cold weather also keeps the humidity down so there's less problems with moisture in the compressed air. I like to time things so I paint my projects in the winter. No bugs to get in the paint then either!

Well, Michigan isn't exactly tropical, but when its gets cold here I just turn on the furnace in the garage and get to work on the projects. Don't like the cold.......but it gets me out of the house and working on the cars.

the other day it got into the low 20's..like 21° here in S.E. Michigan.
I have been cutting/splitting wood every chance I get, and getting ready to insulate my ceiling in the shop. Have been working out there like forever with out much heat and little to no insulation on the ceiling..well not this winter..Sure seems like the bitter cold came early this year didnt it?

2 years ago while making brackets and mounts for my chevy, I threw them out in the snow to cool off after cutting the raw shapes. never fails that you cut something with the smoke wrench and go right back to grab it way too soon...dammit that hurts

I've gotten way more done on the car since it got cold. No gr*** to cut or any other distractions. If you have a warm garage, winter is the best time of the year for building cars. I feel sorry for guys who golf.

got a heated garage, but ive been too cheap to turn it on. I dont have anything going on right now though. Tomorrow it will come on for a bit, gonna do a brake job and possibly other stuff to the wife's car. I told her she has to leave, shop, get her hair did or something and leave me alone for the day.. IT WORKED.

Last winter I tore it up in the garage, shoot its better insulated than my house. I love the cold because the thugs all stay inside and the city slows down. Oh and I dont have to mow the yard like said above ^^^^

bring on the winter, make it cold and make it go by fast. Looking forward to 2009's summer though.

That cracks me up! Yesterday I was driving my roadster wearing a T-shirt and shades! Todays high in Phoenix will be 86 degrees. Of course in the summer I wait 'til night to drive my roadster and use the air conditioning to work in the garage! I guess it's a trade off.

It's a lot cooler welding in the shop in the winter time and the heat in the shop at 50 degrees than in the summer when its 80 outside and the humidity is higher.
Question for post above how do you paint in the shop with the heat on in the wintertime? I would be afraid of blowing up my shop.

Global warming MY ***! It's cold too soon this year! We usually don't see the 20s until Dec-Jan

Here in AL we hunt and golf at the same time! :)

  11. Balmy 30 this morning so the wife and I finished the leaf job from last week - while a few flakes continued to come down. Glad that's done. Back to the projects.

naaaaaaa theres no blowing up -- you crank the heat up then shut it off & spray. dont want the furnace kicking on & blowing dust all over the wet paint.
let it tack up & crank the heat again. :)

Naaa..I quit the deer hunting stuff about 6 years ago..was a single father full time mother to my daughter for a while and didnt have the time for that. let alone how much $ i was spending to go hunting it just wasnt worth it. I had my years in the woods, and the racks on the walls, meat in the fridge. I will hunt for car parts now and work out in the barn,...perfectly content with my choice. :D

Work, work and more work. For me, winter time is the time to work on my car, other cars, friends' cars, and most of all... Dad's cars and all his ideas for them.
This winter, a chop is due for my '55 Desoto, T-5 ******, chrome plated fenderwells and coresupport ready to be installed after I paint the engine bay, engine, and frame. Me and fellow club member Mike (Hoover on the HAMB) are driving our cars out to Vegas in April... so I have alot to do to my car for the trip.
It is colder than a well digger's *** in Indy right now, but not too cold to drive the old cars

Working on the car doing things that need doing before next season. Just pulled the windshield yesterday and am getting new gl*** cut. Dave, you said "no car" did someone buy the roadster?

brrrr...oh yah, it's cold here in Michigan tonight but the fireplace is cranking and wifey made a big pot of her great homemade chili, enough to last the weekend, which I plan to spend in the garage polishing the stainless for the Vicky while watching 20+ year old & older NASCAR race tapes - the good ones with Yarborough, Earnhardt, Pearson, Petty and Elliott! Winter is good.

found out yesterday it isn't good for sandblasting outside. The cold sand being ****ed into the warm air causes condensation and that plugs up the nozzle. Not a big deal, though. It actually is nice to not be all sweaty and have black sand stuck all over.

  25. it aint cold here until when ya spit it freezes and cracks loudly before hittin the ground.. prolly by the end of the week...

its cold enuf now that ice cream, extra bag of ice cubes and the frozen thanksgiving turkey can safely be stored in the car until needed next week.. just don't let the potatoe sausage and hard cheese slide under the seat and be forgotten until next June..

OH AND DON'T LEAVE THE WINE OR BEER IN THE CAR FOR THE SAME REASON .. BLEWWY

what we have learned about the cold is you can make a cave out of snow for the beer and the beer doesnt freeze.even when its below 32. beer must be completley covered in snow and still in the box. dont want anyone losing any beer over this !!!and this was in cans havent tried this on bottles yet.coldest beer of the year

I found out its not the time to leave your keys inside the car, like I usually do when its in my driveway,The thugs dont like to walk too far, someone backed up my suburban enough to drive around my daughters car,and stole it two nights ago,I found it today,a block away from my shop on the other end of town,It had to be a gangsta rappin thug, because my helmet c.d.and metallica kill em all were still on the dash, along with a fishing cap,and some other good stuff...I'm happy to get it back.He coulda asked for a ride.....

  28. 6 inches of snow here last night, and still falling!

Got a mountain of parts i just picked up sitting in boxes in the unheated ba*****t. Spent 3 nights down there sorting through it, not even halfway yet. Think it'll be spring before i get to the other half!!!!

Moved into the new house a year ago. Put the old house furnace in the barn, unfortunatly it's not hooked up yet. No gas.

Now is the time for you guys to weld weld weld, its much easier in the cold, you can wear long sleeves and jeans and not sweat like made in your mask, then when winters over everything is ready for filler and/or primer then painting.
