To drive!! Went to the neuro today. back in october I broke my neck and my back. So,, I have been in a neck brace for over month. Well, My 58 has been sitting in the driveway. Lonely. I havent been able to drive or ride a mtn bike. I just got back from the doc, and I have been healing REALLY fast, SO, I can drive. First thing i Did was fill it up! Then went for a drive in the country. It was beautiful out, chilly, sunny...LOUD! HAH! Man, If you guys only knew how sucky it has been not being able to drive. Im gonna go out and drive some more, and then, Im gonna drive again, and again. Cant wait to ride my mtn bike. All in good time... Just wanted to share... Cheers and beers Hodge
That must have felt awesome! I could imagine being laid up like that... I would just be thnaking god that I didn't end up in a wheel chair if I broke my neck though...
Oh Im grateful. That goes withot saying. i got lucky. I also have a bazillion friends family that supported me. Too bad I could take them for the ride today! Yeah, It was like the first one. I remember, 24 years ago, 64 galaxie, 302, 4 spd... Man, We are some lucky guys huh? 99% of guys drive around in plastic crap. They have no idea what they are missing. I wonder if they got laid up, would they be longing for to drive their camry or just for the act of driving period. Every night I would take the dog out, (my turn) and stare at my 58. Some days I would go sit in it for a half an hour, crank her and let her warm up.... Man, Im just glad to be in her again! She's soooo mean. We are definitly a lucky bunch huh? Cheers and beers Hodge
Congrats man I know that first drive must have felt awsome.Be sure to give that neck ample time before getting on that mountain bike though.
Excellent news! I definitely know how you felt when you couldn't drive. I've had BIG eye problems for nearly all of the last 14 years and have only driven about a couple hundred miles since 1995. Drove about 50 miles in 2003 and none since so I'm itching to get back behind the wheel! Do what you can while you can as you never know what the future may bring. Max
that's great. i love days like that no matter what, but being the first in a while is even better. i think i'll go fire up the '54...
Very good!! Great therapy!! Glad to see you are recovering well, good luck. Going for a ride in your hot rod is the greatest. Whenever I'm really bummed out from work, life or whatever.......the best medicine for me is to jump in my sedan, fire it up and go for a ride somewhere....just anywhere, as long as I can hear the engine, look out over my hood & see my fat fenders and grille ornament in front of me I'm good. Hope for your continuing recovery success!!
