So I have been jumping around on ideas of the engine and the chop on her car and think I am on the right track for the engine but I am a little up in the air on the chop.

I read a thread on here on how to build a car on a budget and in the chopping section it said to ask the HAMB for help.

So here it is, not having the funds right now to do much am I crazy for thinking that if I could just find the help and the people that could tell me where to cut I could get this project rolling for the cost of blades and beer?

James D from Germany is working on the chop that I loved the most from the photochopping thread I started but I still need to get a straight on shot from the side for him, should have that in a few days. That way I could just get the ratio.

Maybe I am being overambitious here but since there is no such thing as a dumb question here is my shot at it.

    Please no beginners

That is some extrodinary vision right there! Only thing I might say is perhaps take a lil bit more out of the back? This way you could tip the window down a bit more, its kind of a straight line till you hit the rear gl*** and that just 45 degrees down into the trunk. Just an idea! Best of luck.

If it were me, I'd spend money on fixing the fugly othodontic-styled front end first.

The front end of those things reminds me way too much of ****-Head.

This is how i would do it make all those blue cuts, and take the roof off and leave the back gl*** where it is put the roof back on and get that taken care of then go a ahead and reposition the back gl*** by leanign it in and sectioning out the nescicary amout of roof to make it work.
I just finnished my first Chop and its ALOT of work
I would seriously consider doing it or not

Not sure about another inch on the a pillars, I like the bigger look in the front. Decisions decisions

I gave you some Ideas in the PM I sent you.
this is a big undertaking but is very doable.
do you have welding skills? or do you have a friend that can weld"
you will have to brace the body from side to side so it holds its shape
    when you make the cuts.
you will need some helpers or some kind of lift to remove the top and fit it back on after the cuts are made.
planing ahead is always good. Ron.....

Well I cant take credit for the chop, that was James D on here, he lives in Germany. I had started a thread on here called FNG needing photochopping help.

Well the wife wanted a 49-51 shoebox but we got tired of seeing so many at shows. And the other day I was working on my buddies 36 plymouth with him and thought about thinking outside the chevy/ford box I guess you would say and found this on Craigslist. Well the lady offered me a awesome deal, 600 less than she had it listed for and I was hooked.

Defintely not going to do anything like Chip Foose did to his, hell my use of the word budget says that but it showed me the car hs a lot of potential.

Yeah I saved your information, I am working on a notebook that has everything anyone tells me in it. I have welded before but nothing like this, luckily my buddy around the corner is a great welder and has built about 50 cars to my few. Its just neither one of us have ever chopped. I have been reading every chop article on the HAMB, I guess you could say I over plan

    Welding skills and vision.

When you are done you'll know how. What was your reason for keeping b-pillar?

Being my first chop, I was worried. Plus I wasnt sure if I would have to support the body. I know it may seem like something small to a lot of guys but agian this will be my first chop.

tossing the pillar will save work because when you chop it your going to have to move the portion that is atached to the roof still about a few inches back anyway to line up with the bottom part. becasue when you cop it you need to bring the roof forward to line up the a pilars, which is the first step.

    Hey,

The chop, as it was photoshopped would be a fairly easy chop for a first timer. If the backlight were tilted any further foward, reward vision would suffer!
I'd get a price on the windshield cutting prior to starting the chop. I don't know 'bout Texas, but some places get big money for this kinda work.
Rather than pie cut the C pillar, I'd cut the pillar out intact, and trim what is necessary from the top of the radius . This would require less welding and preserve the arch of the C pillar down to its' bottom leg.
I'd work on your welding skills a bit more, as that's alot of welding to be asking of a buddy, unless he "owes you big time"! Keep in mind that all of the interior garnish mouldings will require alot of time to cut, fit & weld, too.

    Good Luck with your chop,

    S****ey Devils C.C.

SO getting rid of the b pillar wont require any structural support for the doors or the roof and body?

I’m with UnIOnViLLEHauNT… sort of. The A pillars need to drop and that may clean up the rear. Keep the B’s.

Can someone photoshop the front cut?

You definately want to weld some support in the body before you cut that top off, but it is a cool looking chop, I say go for it.
