??? 45 MPH? OK I think I got this one. Try only pushing on the pedal to the far right.. Honestly though, a 2BBL carb should not be the cause of only 45 MPH. What is your gearing? For intakes, you can get the Burrell, and heads, the Cyclones are now being made again. Pretty much, those are your choices...realistic choices. You may be able to find, if you look really hard, and spend a bunch of dough, Edmunds heads and intake. Hey, show us pics of your caddy mill. Tim MBL
Its not that bad..the Burrell is like 600 bucks I think, and the Cyclones are 1300 or so. Yeah the heads are expensive. But really think about how distinctive it is. For the intake, a flathead Ford Thickstun PM-7 is what 6 bills…so that ain't too off the mark. For the heads, I heard that the new Cyclones are tops. A lot of trouble went to putting those together so the price is what I'd expect. Really what you are doing when you use this stuff is getting rid of weight, Those iron heads are huge and heavy. Intake ain't light either. Anywhere you can save weight on this thing, is good. Tim MBL
yah i got a set of edmunds heads got a grand into those and they need work. mallory dual point was also acquired. for around 4 hundred. so i need an edmunds intake they usually go for around 12 to 15 hundred depending if it has carbs or not so thats around 3 thousand in parts with no labor on the heads.
Really, a Mallory? COOL! I'll probably stick with a stock dist on mine. I do think the obscurity is a contributing factor to the cool build and...that's where your spending your money here. The Burrell intake looks pretty nice. I do understand why you would want the Edmunds heads and Intake. I Just have never really been one of those "the d****s has to match the *****" kind of guys. WOW !! $400.00 for a Mallory that fits a Flat Caddy ? I guess i scored big then, I was at a local Caddy guys place at the end of the "SALE" when they were just Junking stuff. Picked up a box of Dizzy's and at the bottom was a Dual Point Mallory for Flat Caddy !! I also moved a couple Iron intakes off a shelf & guess what was behind them ? A Factory Caddy 2x2 WWII Tank Intake manifold ! Yeah, Its iron but its Cool to have got both parts for ... FREE !!! Also picked up a Cad side shift trans & all the Machined parts to make it fir Closed drive Ford Torque tube for CHEEEEP ! I like these Old Caddy's... Got my '41 Complete for $200.00 out of a running Driving Cad that someone somehow thought it would be Rear Cool to swap out for a 350-350 Chevy combo . I Love when guys have NO CLUE !!
Don't mean to hijack, but is ANYONE repopping OHV caddy intakes? People want a lot for that stuff so I can't imagine the flatty stuff!
