Was playing with the computer today and ended with photo. A chopped Ranchero with a shorten bed, opened rear wheel openings, lowered etc. This would be nice sunny driver for some one to build. Or am wrong on this one. T.C.
Looks like the rear fender well is the front fender well. Might look good shortened with the rear well.
I sure think it's mine, other then the hubcaps and tires it's it. Has the same jikky non stock mirrors. Any ideas where the pic was taken? Maybe it's karma, I'd been thinking I'd chop mine and do so other stuff to it after I don't need it to get to work everyday. I kinda like the rear wheel opening, be easy enough to do.You might get to see your concept followed thru some day
Chopped, yes. Shortened? Not so much. Front fender wheel lips on the rear? No. A guy I met last May at the Stray Kat show in Dewey had one chopped 2" (I didn't ask, but I ***umed that's what it took to fit a hardtop windshield) and it looked perfect.
Yea, the Tiago Ranchero. One of my favorite cars. If I ever have the energy to build another car it would be in that style. Every few years I draw up a concept of what it might look like. 2chops, in Andy Southard's book, rods of the '70's there is a shortened ranchero that you should check out for some ideas.
Nice photoshop Bill...!!! I always liked the Tiago the best in its gold and candy green.... very nice proportions.. and wonderful styling.
Wow, that is gorgeous from the front! What front bumper/grille is that? There is another chopped 57 out there somewhere. I found a pic online but I don't remember where.
Rather than shortening the bed, how about just moving the rear axle forward a couple of inches. I agree the stock one's proportions are a little off but, I don't think shortening the bed fixed the problem.
Just my 2 cents, but I think the detail on the rear wheelwell would look better if it was the other way around, opposite of the front and following the trim. Know what I mean? If you're using donor front fenders for the radius, flip them side to side. The chop looks good though.
There are two chopped Ranchero's here in town. Both 351 powered. One is for sale and can be had fairly cheap. Neat looking.
