I think the scallop design goes way back to the early '30s with some of the big luxury cars like Duesenbergs or Bugatti Royales. Unless you're talking about some other kind of scallop. They also had scallops on a lot of old planes in the early '30s. They would paint scallops on the wheel covers of old planes too.
ACORDING TO WATSON. he created them in 5o's when a shop hired him to cover up some runs in a paint job.
*sigh* my all time favorite plane... that and the DC-3, Beech Staggerwing and the big Waco cabin cruiser..... I seen a 32 deuce painted up like one once, it was sweet...
in 1066 I think. This reminds me of my grandfather telling me about getting a blow job in his youth. I guess I must have looked at him strange, because he said " What? You think you young guys invented this ****?"
I suspect scallop designs go WAY back. Not on cars, but on lots of other stuff. Then came cars, motorcycles, toasters, etc. I like this B-G.... what a bunch of copy cats those SOCAL guys are! Fantasy of Flight, Polk City FL. Gary
