What is a "bobber" truck?

Maybe. Maybe. But the only reason I respect a 1932 Ford as a 'traditional hot rod' is because of the unpresidented use of them for the purpose. That said, without the 'tradition' . the historical value, they're as butt ugly as that bobber truck is.

That said; If I had known this thread was started to trash another, I wouldn't have looked in. Goodby.

 

rather than be a bunch of pricks, why not just answer the guy's legitimate question and then move on. After that, the thread will just die on its own. If you guys really cared about the integrity of the HAMB, you would do just that.

first off,,LABELS are stupid,,it's either COOL or not...


but...,that name BOBBBER in front of ANYTHING that is NOT a 30's -40's original HARLEY with the front fender removed and the back fender cut in half is PRETTY MUCH STUPID to begin with...


when i cared,the BOBBER name in front of any harleythat wasnt of the above mentioned used to irk me,,,


then shortly afterwards, the BOBBER truck term popped up,,,dumb name too...

i built(?) a couple of those things in the past...only because i was wanted a 'HOT ROD' so bad,and have never owned anything older than 1950 at the time,..i couldnt find a reasonable priced body,.but was given a 40's chevy cab and 'built' it(i use that term 'built' loosley)....but at the time ,,it was the greatest thing to me ever,,,a CHEAP way to participate in this 'new school trad movement....i TRIED my best to keep al the proportions and everything else looking cool,,,

but now that i look back,,since they (these fenderless 35-40's truck cabs turned hotrod)
there are still only a very small few that turned me on back then from the begining (of the new school trad movement) and looking back,since that time,,,after hundreds of those knockoffs have popped up,,,those few are the same ones that i still actually dig...of course Rudys,the black one outta SLC,and a couple other proportionally correct rudy knock offs,,,,

the problem is that 99% of the guys building these things have fucked it all up ,by getting proportions all fucked up...not to mention a list of all the other fucked up things....

would i ever try and do another one??? NO....


i dont think of this as a BOOBBER,,,but,,i thought it would mad a great HOT ROD,,if i hadnt sold it....


this was my first attempt at anything like this,,,,yeah,,the build quality can be questioned,,,but at the time i had no clue what i was doing.,,,(well, i still dont!)

These are NOT my trucks..but i like these..some can be done well..and These were labled bobber trucks or trucksters as some cal lthem. I forget where i got these pics..somewhere on the net, a link off ebay if i recall.

I have seen this guys work, and his frames, they are ALL quality built. Just my opinion, you all bitch on.............

 

A bobber truck has become about any closed cab pickup body setup on a similar profile and stance as a FadT, with a shortened bed or no bed and lots of carburetors, without chokes of course.
Bobbers don't need no stinking chokes...

(build them a FadT style frame that will fit their body of choice.)
