My Dad scores big- 1941 Ford pickup barnfind!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Nov 22, 2008.

  1. Craiglist strikes again! My Dad has been kinnda-sorta looking for a Ford pickup. He wanted something as orriginal as possible, something he can make a driver out of. I spotted this thing on Craigslist and he wanted it!!! It's a 1941 1/2 ton, V8 4 speed. It wears it's orriginal black paint as well as all of it's original 16" wheels. The key is in the ignition and the engine turned over by hand. We threw a battery in it and the thing cranked over!!! I poured some brake fluid in the master sylinder and the brakes bled up. Other than the grill center trim and the tailgate, there is not a thing missing. It needs a lot of work to be on the road, but it's all there and orriginal...just the way I like em ;) He's pretty jacked over it and I already called dibbs if he wants to bail :D Like I need another project!

It's perfect just like it is! Freshen up the brakes and tires and drive it.

I'm kinda partial to 41s myself. Dust it off and drive it. Keep the waterfall on the hood. Put a late model master cylinder on it though.

  13. Very cool Chris. Thanks for the pics. Where in Montana did you pick it up? Keith

Sweet find. Take it to bare metal, make everything perfect, pristine, all new chrome. Along the way chop it, put in a Chevy crate motor, paint it Toyota "Tasteful Gold", bag it, and add some 22's. I can see it now...... Or another approach might be....

  16. In good ol Missoula. He got it yesterday but I had to work co could not go with him :( Damn I hate work :D

    Seriously, great find.

  18. That truck would probably take the "Please, Sir, Don't Restore That Truck" prize at our club's show. I love it.

Such a find! Just curious, did your dad pay the asking price or did he dicker a little? :D

  22. Ahh shit, you can't own a truck without some dents :D I can't anyways!!

  23. No, the guy was asking 5,000 OBO for it, and lets just say dear ol Dad payed a little more than half that ;)

  24. My brother has a 40 pickup a lot like it, except lowered with a built 8BA. My Dad is more the stock type, and though he did talk about an axle and such, I would not be surprised if this truck stayed looking just as-is...just cleaned up a little

    Heres my brother's pickup

Sweet, my favorite trucks of all time. I too spotted that on CL, but being away from home (Seattle) kept me from pursuing it. Someday I'll get one.
