I love all the responces to my question. Lots of great information. I'm looking to move there because I've always had the feeling I belong there. My family moved here from Germany back in the 1760's, and that has always interested me about that part of the world. I now have the financial means to do what I want in life and I'm trying to make some decissions about what i want to do. Thanks for all the help.

  2. Why not collect your thoughts here in SoCal first...buy my place so I can move to North Carolina...congrats on being financially able to ponder such a move...one of my best buddies is from Sweden and lives here in SoCal but heads back to Sweden as often as possible...he also sends alot of our tin there (makes a pretty penny doing it too)

Sometimes it takes more than the financial means. Not all of those Nordic countries allow foreigners to buy real estate (I looked into that once). Therefore, it's more difficult than thinking that one will simply move there and do what one wants to do with one's money. Secondly, earnings can be taxed at a rediculous rate if one does become a citizen. Lastly, if one doesn't meet all the nationalization requirements/hoops of the particular country, there may be limits on one's freedom. It could be a lot harder than it is for those outside our borders to set themselves up quasi-permanently in America.

All of the above is Unless you are only talking of going there for a short visit (tourist). If what I mention is not true, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

    from Norway

Don't decide on moving anywhere before you have visited the north-western coast of Norway. Breath-taking nature, very little snow and the winter-temperatures are hardly under the freezing-point most of the time.
And for the hotrodding-scene,-it's coming on strong.

Norway is almost,in many ways, like an American state.
    You are very welcome here.
