Hello to all, I am looking for my fathers car it is a 1963 Tempest called the JOLLY GREEN GIANT never owned or raced by Arnie Beswick. He was just smart enough to market as a 65 GTO.It was raced throughout the midwest in the early through late 60`s. Its an altered wheelbase had a fuelinjected pontiac motor. Any info on this car would be very welcomed. THANK YOU!!!

What's your dad's name? What part of Illinois are you from? Did a dealership sponsor him?

Only close? How many like that could there possibly be? Not like a factory option. Cool car and good luck finding it.

I dont know for sure how or if he was hooked up with arnie. I do remember a story that arnie had a nose made for one of his cars and my dad wanted one so he contacted the guy who made arnies and just to be different he had a thunderbolt hood scoop put on it backwards.

I didn't know if the '65 GTO was another car that your dad raced or not.

    Hi Brian

I just about fell over when I read your post. I almost bought that car in 1982. It was at a gas staion in Prospect Heights Il. The only reason I did not buy it was the front clip was missing. I was told it was being repaired at VFN. I called VFN and they said they threw it out since it had been there for so long.

A few years later I am working at a diesel shop and we are talking about drag racing. My foreman said that he crewed on a car car called the Jolly Green Giant Jr. I told him my about my encounter with the car and a few days later he gave me this picture. From what he remembers the pic was taken at Byron 1964.

I stopped by last weekend to talk to the guy that had it in 82 but missed him at work. I will stop there this weekend to talk to him.

I spoke to the guy that had the car last night. He does not know the person he sold it to back in the 80's. It was someone that just happened to stop in to the gas station. He has all my contact info. I do see him from time to time where he works. I will keep in touch with you. It has to be out there somewhere!
