has anyone ever put hydraulic hinges on a 47-54 Chevy truck? i've been trying for a couple of hours with what i've got ('82 Camaro hydraulic pistons) with no luck. so i wanted to know if anyone else has done it before. thanks
Are you talking about hyd. strut rods - like those that hold up a hood or trunk? Hinges are what the hood pivots on. Generally you need a strut that holds up close to the same weight in its original configuration and it needs to be mounted such that when you close the hood the struts will collapse far enough. I've used them on trunk lids and its a bit of trial and error. Charlie

look, i'm new to the car thing. i'm using words that i think are right or close enough to get the point across. thanks for your input.
I have done it on a 53 Sedan..it can be a bit of a PITA..to get it right , there are formulas you need to work with and the weight of your hood and also the distance of where the hinge of your hood is in relation to the mounting point of the HYD. strut rod. you can usually find these formulas from the manufacture of the strut rods
Von Rigg, thanks i will do some research. is there any one out there that has done it on an AD truck hood?
