Junk Yards, Salvage Yards and Auto Recyclers

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RoadkillCustoms, Jul 15, 2008.

  1. FYI, regarding Arkansas, I believe yeagers is basically gone now. At least in regards to our interests... they had to move and crushed ALOT due to new road construction through their yard. Prouts, N of Clinton still has some usable parts.

Missing the best yard I ever walked, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, (Scott) Weekly's. I believe 160 acres plus of usable stuff there. And has a small yard section of the early vintage stuff with that tall ND gr*** growing around it...

Bridleys in Glenville? MN. This place has tons of '50s-'70s cars. Its a cool place and you used to be able to go out and walk around to find what you needed. I bought some parts there about 10 years ago when the old man was still around the place. That guy was pretty cool. Unfortunately, he hasn't been around the last few times I went there.

As of a year ago you could still wander around and get your own parts and the old grouchy man was still there.

I must have just caught him on good days or else the past few years have changed him. He was quite pleasant the few times I dealt with him. I'm glad to hear he's still around. I think he's the better guy to make a deal with. I had to brave the wasps and almost a foot of water/mud to get it, but he sold me a radio delete plate for my '56 Chevy for 5 or 10 bucks.

I cant remember the name of the place right off but maybe some of the AR guys further north than me will. Theres a large vintage yard in or very near Russellville. I visi ted once prior to him moving the yard and was blown away by the stuff he had in the woods. I know of several smaller yards with lots of old tin but they only do walk-in business and ya gotta be on your best behavior!

Andy Siegel Texarkana, Ar 870-773-6828 (mostly 50s and 60s hes German and ships stuff over there alot)

United Salvage/Danny Buck Hollywood, Ar 870-246-8488 (great guy treats everyone like he's known you for years)

Alvin Arnold Paragould, Ar 870-236-7287 (Cadillac and Oldsmobile spe******t. Lots of hard to find stuff but gets what its worth)

Hey Grant! You might be talking about the place that used to be in Atkins. He moved it to Plumerville, but Duncan said all that is there is 80's stuff. So, I guess all the cool stuff didn't make the move and is gone? The Olds that became the couch I sent you pics of came from the Atkins yard I'm told by the guy I got it from. I can only imagine what used to be there.....:(

You should add wildcat to your oregon list. It's a mopar only joint up in the hills, and my favorite! I like to pack a lunch and just walk around checking out the ol mopars.

Thanks for the posts with yards I was missing -- I also added added a bunch more junk yards late last night - mostly from the East Coast, but few Westies as well -- that brings the listing to over 1000 junk yards, salvage yards and auto recyclers! I also updated the categories, so it is now easier to find yards that deal in cl***ic and vintage parts!

As always, if you know of a source that is not listed, PM me or post it here. I will add it.

Search the Junk Yard Listing Database here: http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Junk-Yards-Salvage-Yards-Auto-Recyclers.asp

You can also use the mobile (pda or cell phone) version of the database at http://rkjunk.com/ (I tried to keep the URL short - easy to type on those tiny freakin' keypads)

Also, if you know of some old tin that needs to be rescued or you can not find that elusive part, check out a new project of mine, the Dead Opossum Society at http://www.roadkillrodders.com/keep-hot-rodding-alive/

I hit the Jackpot with a buddy of mine in Chi-town. He sent me a database of nearly 3000 yards...only a portion were ones I already had.

While this a boon for the system, it made finding a yard in the BIG list a pain in the a$$. So I have added a feature that allows you to view only specific cities in each state. It really makes finding a yard close to you a breeze...

I remember going to a yard called pocahontas about 6 years ago. They had probaly 100 old cars and trucks from the 40's and 50's at the time. I heard they crushed out though

  22. I see you have Watts Used Parts listed. If you live in south carolina they are the place to go.They only deal in cl***ic car parts,1970`s and older.Very nice family that runs it too.

    Great job, Roadkillcustoms! :D

I've added your site to my "favorite places".

But you've listed M&M in Stafford, VA twice.

Thanks Gary, Fixed the Dupe Listing...

Link is just fine...checked the server, no hiccups for the last 42 days since last server restart. Must have been an Internet fluke. Try it again: Car & Truck, Cl***ic Car & Truck, Motorcycle & ATV Junk Yards, Salvage Yards and Auto Recyclers

    Thanks Big D

Or "How I spent my Memorial Day" (Other than in front of the grill...)

I have added a new resource to the Junk Yards, Salvage Yards and Auto Recyclers database - A Used Auto Part Locator Service. Over thae past weeks, I have ***embled a small (but seasoned) squad of used part bird dogs, many of which are vintage savvy, to help locate parts for web site visitors. There is no fee to you -- they of course make their money on any parts located and sold. Submit a part request here:

Hey Roadkill , nice job . One you want to ad to the list is Stutsmans in Casey Illinois .

Id have pmed it but i wanted to post this in here also .

You guys in illinois need to make a trip there , they dont crush anything old and you are free to go into the front office and then take off through the yard . Picked up some nice windshield stainless for my 55 for 30 bucks !!!! , Only junk yard i know of with a factory PLUM CRAZY 70 OR 71 CUDA!!! that thing is STRIPPED! but you can still tell what it was ,40 fords , flatheads , studebakers , vert gtos and chevelles . I once saw a 57 chev convertable getting drug outa there by a bull dozer and shoved up on some fellas trailer . Pretty much everything is for sale . Really fun trip to walk through.
