I think Gary Meadors flipped me off one year in DesMoines...Not real sure, but it sure looked like he did...

Even so, I'm still a Goodieguys member...and will continue to be.

I won a chance at a chance for the Dearborn Duece...The guy who did win the car was a former G.G. employee (very, very suspicious). I guess this is the excuse I needed to drop my membership. As if I did not need it before.

Their website doesn't show a rate increase. You can get a discount on event registration before December 31st there too.

    Maybe I'm missing something . . . ?

I worked there when that happened. That was TOTALLY random. He had actually quit- so giving it to him wasn't doing them any favors. They have no reason to cheat people with something so obvious (or for any reason). The Meadors family are good people- and they keep good people around them because they work together so closely. Tons of hard work goes into making those events fun and different. They didn't get to be the biggest because they do a lousy job.

Then join NOW...it won't cost you 65.00...$30.00 now will get you a year of the Gazette...it's a great mag...and then it'll only cost you 50.00 for the event-three days plus the free kick-off party, plus the free shop tours...

I dont generally deal with places like "Honest Bobs Auto Parts", "Best Burgers", "Budget Pluming Co." etc... I find its usually trying to sell you on some bullshit.

Sounds great. I'm curious, how many 3 day shows does the "Minnesota Street Rod Association" put on across the United States? Oh, and how many pages in their monthly full color magazine? Thanks, Mike

Well, they used to when their real business sold TV's, stereos and microwaves and they just sponsored the car shows. But, when that went belly up, the car shows stayed because they were much more successful.

I'm sorry but the complaining about how much it costs to go to these shows is getting old. My girlfriend and I CANNOT go out to dinner and a movie for 65 bucks anymore! So I have NO problem paying $65 to get my truck, me, a friend or loved one, and any number of kids into the show for THREE days to hang out with friends! Shit, the show is way more satisfying and leaves me with memories, where as the dinner Comes out the next day, and the movie gets forgotten about a week later. The best part is when you register a car you can bring your own cooler with sandwiches and beverages so you can cut down the food costs. Also as a member you get a bitchin' magazine every month that KIRK! has worked so hard, and done a fantastic job, improving. If people cease to support the hobby it will go away, or at least suffer big time. All you have to do is cut back a few lattes a month and put that dough in a cookie jar and when the next G.G. event comes to your town you have the money to go have a good time.
Sorry for the rant, but this subject keeps coming up and the finger always gets pointed at KIRK and the Goodguys as being greedy and stealing all of our hard earned money, when they are actually providing a great sevice to us and the hobby by bringing thousands of car people together at numerous events across the nation yearly.

Oh yea and the MSRA doesn't host a show anywhere in the southwest (AZ,CA,NM,TX,CO,etc) last I checked so that does me no good.
