If you thought the rear locked up may we ***ume that the truck will not move? Does it act like the brake is on until you press the clutch in and at that point will it roll? If you have these "symptoms" then you most likely have the ****** stuck in 2 gears at the same time. This can happen when linkage gets worn a bit. You say it's the factory 4 speed. Is it a granny 4 speed where the shifter goes right into the top of the trans? If so remove the top plate from the trans and you will see some metal plates with slots in them. The slots need to be lined up for the trans to be in neutral. You can do this with a screwdriver. At this point jack up the rear to make sure the wheels turn now. Hope this will help you figure your trouble out. Al

Like 41hemi sez, pull the top. Could be a broken shifter fork, if so put the top off the other trans on it, easier than swapping the trans. One minor point....If it's locking in two gears, it won't move, clutch pressed or not.
The floor mat comes out and there's a big cover you can remove to get at the shifter top. Block a wheel and jack up a rear wheel so you can tell when you get it in Neutral, the wheel will turn.
