There are a number of hot rodders around there, but this time of the year, you have to dig them out of the house. There use to be an active club there, but think the faded away a few years ago. They have some up comming car shows & small swap meets between now & Feb.

  5. Eugine, Springfield, and Salem area hotrodders are very active through the summer, a little soggy this time of year for vintage tin.

Just curious...I was in a car show in Oct. of "67 in Eugene with the Early Times Club out of L.A. area. The guy putting on the show gave us a place to stay in the offices of the Balboa Park Drag Strip which also doubled as an airport.
Does anyone have any old photos of that drag strip or would know if that airstrip is still there. Also, can anyone give me the name of the road that Balboa Strip was on???

Balboa was off of West 11th and North Danebo. Nothing there now, but if you search on Google Maps it's easy to see where it used to be.

  9. Was good in the 60s. Here's Balboa.

  11. You bet. I also want to mention that I really enjoyed your albums here. Oh, the memories. I raced a couple nights at Balboa in my 27T with a friends 6 jug Hemi. He passed not long ago and I have the manifold and carbs.

We have really good friends in Eugene. We were up visiting them one weekend, and I drove by a grocery store parking lot full of (at least 25) Hamb-friendly rides and guys just standing around sipping coffee and enjoying the camaraderie. That was about ten years ago however.

  15. Soggy & damp?????

We've had 3 days of the 60's and today & tomorrow are mid 70's and sunny with no rain until Wed. in the forecast here in Brookings on the coast.

Of course 2 weeks ago we got 15" of rain in 4 days. I'm from SE Michigan my entire life before retirement (Lake Orion). It's snowing there with highs in the mid 30's.

Soggy & wet means nothing compared to Sub-Zeros in Jan & Feb and snow on the ground until mid-late March.
