how would i suicide the back doors on my 60 chevy? Do I have to buy a kit to do it? Could i switch sides of the hinges and flip em upside down? JAMIE
Depends on what the style of your trailing edge of the door is like. If it kicks up to follow the wheel arch, then you will have a hard time to fit the hinges up in the smallish space that's vertical. It will cause too much leverage with the weight of the door for stock hinges. If you are able to space them apart like the stock location, then your idea should work. Good luck
I would stay away from suicide doors. Everybody that asks me to do them I try to talk them out of it. Sure it looks cool but it's a pain in the ***. Once you get in the car you HAVE to engage a saftey latch and before you get out you have to undo it. Besides the only time people will see it is when you get in and out. Cars look goofy sitting with their doors open. Cars look better with everything shut so you can see the lines of the car. If you want to do something radical, chop it or do other customizing that will show all of the time. If you absolutely have to suicide it, I would recomend "Rocky Hinges" hinges. They will make the job alot easier and don't forget the safety latches. Clark
Sorta missed the part about the "back" doors. Still it will be a lot of work that could be put into something else. Clark
Its too late to chop it body and paint has been done. I just figured i could do the doors and not mess up the paint... I dont like the idea about the safety latches..Kinda stupid.....thanks anyway...btw sowhat ya gonna be in Daytona this year?JAMIE
You do have to run the saftey latches even if they are on the back. Daytona??...hell yeh. There's a whole bunch of us coming down. We'll be in the same hotel as last year. I hope HotRod Walt will have that spot again and will have us back again. We had a ball last year! Clark
