hi everybody as you know i'm 12 and LOVE cars and know a TON about them! well if you wonder why i know so much is because my caring, loving, nice grandfather taught me when i was first born he would read HOT ROD and R&C magazines to me until i fell asleep, and that's why i know so much and he kept promising me me and him would build my first car when i was 12 and now were building a 1953 oldsmobile! yeah he has a hot rod too a 1952 stude g***er:) and he's getting older(55) so i have to spend as much time as possible w/him. he's not like other grandpa's! he doesn't look his age! helooks 40's or 30's! LET'S GIVE A ROUND OF APLAUSE OR CHEERS TO MY GRANDPA!!!!!!:):):)

You're both very lucky to have each other.

  6. You and your grandpa are both a couple of kids.

    Kids in a good way.

Help him when you can and it doesn't always have to be about cars....

Way to go pal, your Gramp isn't very old to us older dudes!! But he sure got you on the hot rod track. Congrats for showing your pride in your teacher!! Keep up the good work. And a atta-boy for the Grandpa!!~Sololobo~

  8. You are one fortunate kid - and your grandpa is fortunate to have somebody like you to mentor. I was very fortunate as well . . . and I cherish all the great times I had with my favorite Uncle and a man across the street that I called my 'second father' and other great hotrod mentors.

I'll give you the best advice I can give (was given to me by a good mentor):

When you complete your first hotrod/custom, don't ever sell it . . . no matter who wants you to, or because you want the money, or because you're getting married, or just because - just don't do it. You'll be glad you still have it when you get my age. (I'm almost 50 and have my first hotrod). Keep it in the family and p*** it down when you're older . . .

That's great that you have your grandfather around. I only get to see mine every few years, so enjoy your time with him all you can.

Looking at your other pictures I see you pulled your car out of the woods. What's the story on it?

well yes it was in the woods...i bought it from randy rhoades who built the g****vine clone...for 250 bucks! and all he knew was that a old couple had it first then somebody else had it and cut the whole front spindles off and took the trim them gave it to randy. there is also a parts car hold on i'll go get a pic of it

    Great car, Jon.

Looks like it must have been an adventure getting it and the parts car.

Glad your Grandpa and you are good buds and are old car guys.

Today, 55 isn't really THAT old!!!!

Well, fellas...this kid IS the real deal. I know Jonathan quite well, and he knows a truckload more about cars and engines than I ever did. (seriously) He's still got alot to learn, in more ways than one...(he IS a kid)...but he's off to an awfully good start. He's got one hell of a teacher too. His grampa is like an encyclopedia of car & hot rod knowledge. (Corvette grandma is pretty cool too.)
