I found this 1947 V-12 Lincoln when I was 8 years old, that was 48 years ago. Sorry 42 years ago. The car sat in a dry garage since about 1953. It was only driven a few times since then. The owner recently put it up for sale and a guy from Chicago bought it. The old owner got it ready for transport. It ran pretty well, 35,000 original miles, brakes worked and tires still held air. To get loaded on the truck he had to drive it about 2 miles, as I followed. I don't know what the new owners intentions are but I assume it will be restored. The first picture shows the garage it was stored in. The last picture shows an ice house on the same property that is next to the garage that the car was kept in. Before refrigeration, ice was cut from the lake and stored in the ice house for later use. A car I will always remember!
wow that car looks amazing just as it sits i don't think it would need much in the way of restoration
i saw that on craigs list my dad has a 42 continental cabriolet that has 21,000 miles on it so it caught my eye nice car tk

I used to have a '42 Continental coupe. There were only 200 Coupes and 132 Cabriolets built so we're a rare breed!
Excellent condition and I am slightly jealous. These are elegant cars and somebody got a beautiful starting project.
WOW! So the car is in all-original condition? I would love to have a '42-'48 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet...I love the '40-'41s as well. Gorgeous car.
Did anyone catch the 47 Conv in the Heshey Car corral with the later Lincoln V-8 and the crazy tach where the clock was supposed to be. Car looked like it had just been dragged from a barn but was very cool indeed. Modifications looked to have been done in the 50s. I wish I had taken a picture.
I'm really suprised it doesn't have skirts on it. Almost every one i've seen has them including my 48 Coupe that is in about the same condition with 45000 miles. Converts/cab's are really sought after. Mine was "restored" in the early 80's but had a 1957 Caddy in it.
I always thought the V12 would be a barnstormer. When I worked for Old Union Car Company, I had the chance to drive one, after adjusting the brakes for a customer. Even though it ran like a clock, it was a let down. It was nothing like a V8 Flathead. If I had been a bank robber in the forties, a Lincoln would have been last on my list for a get-a-way car, even though I'm with the rest of you as far as eye appeal. The convertible is beautiful and would make a nice rod. I did say 'rod'. Maybe stuff in a Cobra Jet. So it would haul. A car that cool should run like stink.
The skirts were in the trunk. The car isn't perfect but very original. It needs a little of everything from sitting for fifty years.
what did they get for it on Craigs list?? car looks perfect, I use to work for Ed Peese at narragansett reproduction in RI ( made wiring harnesses for mostly fords & lincolns) So i saw alot of those lincoln, but i don't think i ever saw one that nice that wasn't restored!!Not many that where restored!! jimV
This is why I've always stayed away from what looks like a pretty cool car. My dad would always complain about getting behind one on a hill and everything would slow to a crawl. You see some speed equipment for them but not much.
