Call the cops and let them know you suspect you found a stolen car for them.
its almost impossible these days for a civillian, let alone a cop to run a plate number with out a darn good reason, (stalking laws) so you will have to let them know where it is and let them take care of it.

As great as the HAMB is my first call would have been the cops.

Good post. I'd call the cops as well. Has all the indications of a drive and ditch. Odd to park it in a garage, though!

  8. if it is stolen, the people who stole it were AWESOME for not ****ing it up anymore than they did. looks to still be in one piece.

might be a way to run a Vin#..or have it checked by the DMV..i think i would still go the cop route,,why get mixed up in some crime..you never know what that car might have been stolen for...drive by shooting..drug run..?

    yeah or what Belchfire8 said

The owner might be in the trunk!!!

  12. you would think the security at the parking garage would have checked into it by now , instead of just ticketing it

That's why they're security and not law enforcement. They should have called the police after 3 days.

Do the poor guy a favor and call the cops. Somebody probably dearly misses their 60, and it looks like it survived the ordeal pretty darn well.Maybe they stole it, went to the mall, then quit after the tire went flat?

thats were i parked my car been looking for it for a year hahah

  18. Yeah, just call the cops and tell them you think it's a stolen car, and they'll come and call the owner if that's what happened.

A long time ago when I lived in a ****py neighborhood someone parked a really nicely restored '68 Chevelle alongside my house and left it there with the windows open for about a week. I thought it was fishy that someone would leave something nice like that with the windows open so I called the cops, and sure enough it had been stolen from a nearby town and ditched there. The cops waited there for the owner to come claim it. I felt bad that I let it sit there a whole week before calling the cops.

oh well I guess. Find a cop locally and mention it to him. I would help but my department would wonder why I'm running a CA tag if it comes back stolen.

    good luck

  21. You probably need to find a cop you can actually talk to face to face, preferrably one who's a car guy. How to find that... good question.

There used to be a website called Public information.com that for a fee you could get a name and a number from the tag. I used it a couple of years ago to gain some information.

I feel for the guy or gal if this is a stolen car. But if mall security is this lazy maybe I could go park one of my cars sorta like a free car storage.

Maybe the parking lot attendant is in on it?..theres a twist for ya..
its been sitting there that long and no calls on it..the cops cant go after a suspected stolen car on private property? Huh?..all they got to do is run that tag # to see if they got something..if it is in FACT stolen they can go on private property to get it..
your home property is private also but if you had a stolen car on it you bet your dupa they would be all over it like frosting on a dounut..and you would be getting a free ride in a squad car and doing some splanin'

The irony is that if it was yours and at your house , or in the driveway, the cops/county would steal it from you for having an unregistered "eyesore" in public view"

It's basically the same here in the East. The cops will do nothing on private property that is a "public place"/

They can't get a towwer to move it cause the guy needs to be paid. Here, the cops need get a salvage ***le issued for an abandoned vehicle so the trucker can sell/s**** the car for the fee for his work. On private property, the cops can't get a judge to do that.

We have run into this at the gas station I work at. Having a sign that says cars will be removed/towed at the owner's expense mean nothing here.

My car was stolen once and ran through the front door of a gun shop. The perps were nice enough to pull the car out before they started the place on fire (thanks homies). The Cops didn't take the time of day to call me to come and pick it up (car was already reported stolen) and just had it towed to the city impound lot. Got the call the next day, by that time I had racked up a $400 bill for 1.5 days in the lot and tow fees. It felt like insult on top of injury. Hope this doesn't happen to this guy, otherwise we might see it in a police auction being sold to pay off impound fees.
