I got my coupe home from the body shop today, doors and a few other items will be done later. REALLY happy with the workmanship.

It's more than cold now, it covered with ice, and salt from the 200 mile trip back home last night.

I'm going with a little larger tires in the back, not quite sure on the front yet.

The bodywork was a barter, and I couldn't be happier with it.

I'll start working on putting it together in the Spring, I'm getting out of this COLD weather and heading for Florida tomorrow.

I traded a pretty nice rust free 82 Mercury Capri RS with straight sheetmetal and paid for all the materials. He was to do all the rust repair, bodywork and put it in primer. I also agreed to pay him for any extras I wanted done, like he shortened the driveshaft and put in several body mounts and braces where needed. He also agreed to take lots of pictures, which he did.

He's a Hot Rod builder from way back and has giving me lots of tips for the completion of the coupe. He's kinda attached to it now and said he would like me to bring it back after I get it up and running so he could put paint on it. I kinda want to paint it myself even though I haven't painted a car for over 20 years.

I put the ch***is together myself with help from my brother-in-law who did the critical welding. 36-3window helped with lots of good info and his trusty torch.

You guys here and guys at Club Hot Rod have been have been sooooo helpful with this build. I built a 34 Ford Fordoor in '62, rebuilt it in '75 and built a 36 Ford Tudor back in '65. Them two cars were nothing compared to the work that's gone into the coupe so far.

Still lots of work to be done and I'll just keep asking questions. Thanks guys!!!!!

  15. Looks great! What does it cost to get that much body work done these days in that part of the world?
