Strange Pontiac Single Spring Rear

Anyone running this set up? How well does it actually work? details please

 

diagram only shows one side, it would have two lower arms, and springs , in reality.

that setup if bolted into a car would result in a drastic lean....

 

Then whats with the mount on top of the pumpkin?

 

possibly a 3 link

 

same setup as a 58 chevy

 

58 canadain pontiac runs that

 

Springs mount on top of the lower control arms, arrow is the spring retainer, similar to chevy truck/nascar setup.

 

58s have a upper wishbone, changed in 59

 

Anyone know where or have a picture of this set up in a car ?

sorry for the bad pics, it was still light enough out. hard to get under tho, kinda low. twin trailing arms and springs, and a center upper arm.

 

I hear it was on the ones for export to Poland too.

Now question is that center pivot arm loaded or just kinda there ??
and is that like some sort of snubber or just upper control arms kinda whooie?

 

it pretty much helps with side to side movement, not loaded or anything. no snubber anywhere, just a rearend leak, lol!

One more question,,Does the centre piece replace or ( not sure of exact wording ) become the Panhard ?

 

thats pretty much what it does from what i can tell.
