Back with another thought, while searching on here all day for the most part i saw some one mention jhonny joints and decided to google it, and when i saw how they work in my head at least i think that if i mounted these on the end of my short ladder bars that they would allow the rearend to move enough for me to mount my ladder bars out board of the frame any takers out there

    One vote NO.

Ask yourself how the body is supposed to roll in a corner,
and why none of the factories used parallel ladder bars.

they give 30 degres of rotation in all directions i was thinkig that that would be enough to allow movement for the rear end side to side, i have a set of ladder bars and i am trying to figure out some way of using them with out any binding problums

Use one in the center for rotation control (Torque arm)and one one each outside frame rail for position. The outside bars MUST be pivoted on both ends. A shackle on the torque arm end is also required. I have used this for decades with great results

the bind in a ladder bar does not come from the lack of movement of the bushings/ joints.

the fact that the rear of the bar is mounted in two places does not allow it to pivot. This is where the bind begins. those joints will not allow any more movement than a compliant bushing. If the ladder bars are long, and angled into the center of the car, it can allow more twist in the suspension. Parallel ladder bars will not allow twist, without a method for the axle to float, and another locating link.

I have used them on my 36 radius rods.

I will be putting on a top bar effectively making them a ladder bar. I used the big ones having not seen them untill delivery, and would probably go a smaller size if i did it again.

I can post up some pics latter if anyone is interested.

Mine will be mounted as close as possible to the tail shaft on the front and will be mounted on a A Model spring at the rear. The johnny joint will alow very good rotation. But these are standard length 36 radius rods which are about 5 1/2 foot long. I feel the longer the ladder bar the better off you will be.
