NICE JOB GUYS! Sodbuster told me that they were getting together to get things going with Kevin. Now I am really sorry that I was out of town! Looks like Kevin is making it to the drags after all!

  7. Was a Sunday well spent.
    First ride first fire.
The smile on Grims face was worth more than any ride I've ever owned.

Dude started two or three years ago with no real background in hot rodding and no real experience with this sort of thing. Amazes me that his first car is so right... Mechanically inclined.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Couldn't have done it without some help - and the list is long. I guess sodbuster is the one who organized a lot of it on the sly. Guy rolls up with a toolbox, shop vac, and an air compressor....on his wedding anniversary. Unreal. THANKS.

    Everyone showed ready to go.
KC ****o hooked me with a 12V generator - shot the vid, and managed to find a whole day to wrench with a 3 month old at home. Huge respect.
Raven bent up some brake lines and brought a bomber seat as a loaner.
porkn****** was all over everything and first to show...one of the last to leave.
Brad was the head fairy - read that however you want. He rules. Ran the magic plug wires. He made me a driveshaft too and was a source of merriment all day long.
Casey (non hamber and best friend) Helped with everything and went home to find the only thin walled socket that would get the heads on. True Hero.
Ryan sat around and made a general mess of ****. He did manage to get a head torqued down in between destroying my dipstick tube up and trying to fit Buick and SBC parts onto my motor. To his credit the parts WORKED and pretty much saved my ***.
And I'll go ahead and take some credit too since I am pretty *******ed mechanically inclined.

I also have a long list of people who helped me out over the long haul. But I'm sure you're tired of reading this so I'll save it for the day after she rolls down the strip... I heard that flathead all night...I got about fifteen minutes of sleep.

Another I've followed. Sometimes it's hard to keep up. Have to wade thru the ???'s you post, looking for the pics hidden within. And damn good questions they are. [IMG] Long way from the long cold winters you forged thru.

*****in ride Grimlok. Man I love this place.

Don't think I've fully got my head around everything yet...the possibility that I'll be making p***es in a couple of weeks. This thing isn't done yet - I've got a lot of late nights of work left but if I get one thing done each night I'm good.

I tore the rear brake lines out last night and replumbed them...I'm not rebuilding the sub floor over six dollars in brake line, period - I already had the floor all planned out. It's all worked out and half of the line clamps are in place now. I'll finish running/clamping lines tonight and fill it up.

Cut down my giant breather tube. Sorted through the big wad of wire looking for the best way to trim everything down and route the wiring. Got some really cool plugs for the water outlets - expanding rubber with big wing nuts. I'm going to have the raddest battery box if I can work it in time...if I can't I'll use a cheap hold down. Have to pull all of the wheels and install the spacers...should probably have the wheels balanced too. Got to get it painted. This is going to be close. Thanks again everybody.

Grim, don't mean to take anything away from your "first firing."

    But because it's still TECH week;
Are those head studs screwed into "Threadserts?" (or the eqivilent)
Looks like all of the head studs were done. (thanks to Ryan's great pictures!)

Nope. I think what you're seeing is the sun reflecing off of a thin ring of Permatex that oozed out when the studs went in. Studs went in until they were bottomed out and then backed off just enough to give a tiny bit of wiggle. I love those studs... all business. I'll never run anything else and I'll never cover them up with acorn nuts or nut covers.

No dis-respect meant by the pee remark....
    Actually, quite the opposite....
If I want to pee on something, that means that I really like it!

Maybe I should have clarified that in my previous post... I forget that not everyone on the HAMB knows my style....

Can't wait to see all you Kansas boys at the drags....
And remember... if I pee on you... it's all good! [IMG]

Just a reminder,... re-tourque those head studs a couple of times before you REALLY "get on it!"

Good on ya bud, see; the skinned knuckels and sleepless nights DO pay off!
