    Paint.
I agree with Groucho.... base coat (won't cost you a million bucks and there are zillions of hues and colors now).

Paint it, burgundy and black (fenders and running boards) or dark blue and tan (fenders/running boards) or change the tan to champagne. Interior to match the fender/running board color.

I say paint. I do like the two tone idea with the fenders and boards one color and the body different.

Lots of good ideas guys, I'm gonna have to take time to decide what to do. Last night I started scuffing and clear coating it for now. I'll post up picks when I'm done real real soon. Got to get that ass on the ground too. When I do paint, got to be something w/ heavy metal flake. At least that's the way I'm leaning at the moment.

PAINT! What is the use of going to all the work of gathering all the parts, installing them, etc. and then leaving the rust? To me it is like a mole on a models face if you leave it patina'd.

That being said, I would paint it a nice kandy red with gold metalflake scallops and some gold metalflake steelies with a gold metalflake tonneau cover and kandy red stitching..

    Just my $.02

Drive the wheels of it, have fun with it.
But, if you decide to do something different, paint it shiney paint. I spent almost a year doing the bodywork on my '55 Desoto with all the body mods. I haven't driven it in over a year so I put it in grey primer before I paint it. I want to paint it like none other, but its going gloss black and copper so i don't want to rush the prepp work. So, it sucks driving my car in primer when poeple think I have it finished. its not even close. And there is not that much in difference when it comes to cleaning paint, and cleaning suede paint. Just make it shiney.
Oh, and I'm tired of seeing patina, looks like someone's trying too hard to 'fit in'. Just my opinion.

Leave it the way it is, and drive it.

  9. I'm sorry, could you be a little more specific?:D

I would go matte finish, but use your imagination...I would go with a light color with some pearl...unless you want to make the body work really nice, matte is the way to go IMHO...spend the money saved on some tasteful striping...

    There's my 2 cents...since you asked:rolleyes:

I'm more a fan of paint than no paint, It's a personal opinion, and it all poils down to your preference, but My philosophy is: If you can, why wouldn't you?

I only like the patina when its ALL patina and not fake. I contemplated fake patina at one time, thank god I didn't do it.

I would PAINT IT like groucho did, base coat it. I think that is the best anymore. I just dont like "show" trucks as much as having lots of cool stuff and a basic paint job. Makes you look at the truck and stare to figure out what was done.

Some day I'll have another ride and I'll do my truck the way I really want to.

Update, no paint, knocked off alot of surface rust and the blue paint came through some more, lowered it 2" in the rear. The whitewalls were portawalls and had to come off. I took the thermador off too

nice truck! be credited with 2 tone primer craze (computer speak: prime.2) others and ron white: priiimerrrduuuh!. magazine article title: in
its prime, prime example, 2 prime or not 2 prime, prime mover.

seriously the 2 tone blue/grey looks bitchen'.

    body: grey

    fenders, thermador, visor, etc: blue

running boards: matching blue bedliner paint

grille, bumpers, tailgate chains, baby moons: chrome

just some suggestions, again nice truck. dont let people, including me, tell you how to build your stuff. if they critisize you its because they are looking at thier own wishing it was as nice. good thought out suggestions are good.via con Dios!

    Paint.
Red w/ black fenders. or black w/ red fenders.
Not too common but dark red fenders w/ gray body - gold pinstriping.
