Bell housing interchangability

I have a buddy who has a '57 Ford with a '58 Ford 6 cyl. and 3 speed installed. He just aquired a 312 c.i. Y-block and he is not sure if the 6 cyl. bell housing will bolt up to the Y-block. I am not up on these,so I thought I'd ask the group who'd know.Thanks in advance.

The 6 Bell does not fit a Y~Block.

I have a Y~Block Bell from a Truck that holds the Light Duty truck & P*** Car trans if ya need one.
