Hi folks, thought i'd share some pics of my newly aquired '26 Ford Model T fairground racer, just got it at the weekend, got it fired up yesterday for the first time, hope to get it up to my friends farm at the weekend for a blast back wheel jacked up to warm up the ****** oil and free the "clutch" I'm told its got a Giant Powerhead and the water pump is an aftermarket job, theres a set of modified A wheels on the back, and ive got a pair of 20" T wires for up front
Would love to see a video of that running, i bet it sounds great. How big is the driver? it looks like a long ways from the seat tothe sterrring wheel....
fits me fine I'm 6' tall , only pic ive got with someon on it is from before i got it sop i dont know how tall the guy was on my webpage http://www.strathbranspeedshop.com/modeltspeedster.html
Thats kool. I was thinking about doing something like that with my T ch***is. Probably be a lot of fun in that white stuff you got.
That looks like a bunch of fun. My first thought was that you had picked up a new "Pro fairgrounds T". Great looking car, be sure to share some photos or a video of that loop around the pasture.
Fun! I was a friends shop looking the one he is building. If only the was more room and money.........
Obviously hard to tell with the snow on it, but the head looks stock. Are there any markings on it? Also what the heck is that cast iron pipe for?? I can't honestly think of anything on a Model T in that spot. The water pump is aftermarket. I found my T runs better with out one. I also would either make sure the gas tank is full or raise it a few more inches. Gravity is tough As me how I know. Cool Rig though and I am sure a blast to drive.
I'm completely new to Fords, but I'm told its got "A" back wheels, these have been welded to "T" inner hubs, I plan to sort that out y grinding the welds and machining an adapter to make the wjeels bolt up as they should and allow fitment of rear axle brakes of some sort
head has got "Ford" cast on top, the guy I bought from told me it was a Giant powerhead, - I dunno i'll take some close up pics the tank is on my todo list - big todo list
yeah its a handbrake/neutral finder lever, been altered to be quick to release for racing with some steam pipe
definately not a Giant head then, mine has got Ford cast in it i'll have to give the guy I got it from a call so ........ is that one going spare????????
not a gear shift its a neutral selector/park brake, well its supposed to be, but I aint found neutral yet - still got a back wheel jacked up when i start up the motor, every time it fires up the wheel spins like mad if I push the brake pedal the motor dies - i'll have to do a bit of adjusting
It could be the photo but it looks like the pipe is attached to the middle pedal, which would be reverse when pushed down. If it is attached to the reverse pedal and not the far left pedal, then you're probably in high gear when you're starting it. If you push the left pedal to the floor that will put it in low gear. Depending on how the high/low pedal is adjusted, neutral should be somewhere in the middle. When you start it, you should have the left pedal in neutral, then push it down for low and then take your foot off for high. If the wheels don't spin slower with the left pedal all the way down, then your bands might need adjusting/replacing. If the bands aren't grabbing, you probably wont' get into neutral or low speed at all.
hi, must be the photo, the steam pipe lever is operating the cam onto the hi/lo pedal, it doesnt quite put the pedal into the mid position the bolt seems to be a bit short - i think this is the problem, Ill have to try adjusting it this weekend. I'll get theback axle onto a pair of stands and adjust it till I find neutral.
