i've seen people cut the bird out and i've seen people pound it out.. any suggestions on which way would be better or any links to any articles ...thanks
hey breal I took two hoods cut the center out of the old one . and cut the bird clear out.and put the center in front.
I have done it several times with a torch shrinking method. Takes a little time, and know how, but the results can be real nice.
Hey, Both ways require metalworking skills above "basic'' body work. The cut and replace method will require some metalshaping even if you go with a doner filler panel. The slit down the center of the swage line method will require good hammer and dolly work, as well as being able to shrink low crowned metal without excessive warpage/damage. Both of the above methods will render great results depending on the exact level of your skills. I'd lean towards the slit down the middle with a **** weld, probably mig with 0.23 wire. Try to use as little filler as possible on hood panels, as they heat cycle many times in the life of the repair, and thick filler will crack sooner rather than later. S****ey devils C.c.
