i am ready to paint my 48 ford..interior is tan The fellow who started the car project painted firewall and inside door posts and trunk ,dash in yellow. i will paint the cat in yellow but i need to two tone it. what color will look good with yellow? flames? any pictures would help or ideas please.....
Grill, hood, cowl, roof, trunk, doors and 1/4s yellow. Fenders and bumper splash guards Jet Black. Or Lavender...
Two tone or Scallops would easily look like a taxi cab and it doesn't have enough doors for that Brilliant blue FLAMES, You know that "candy" one on Fords a couple years ago that you don't know for sure if it's not purple.

[/ QUOTE ] hmmm, a nice deep orange? that would look very... vivid. But I have to agree... too much yellow and you might as well put a checkered stripe down the center.
Yellow body. Silver flames, possibly fading to charcoal and black. Or dark grey scallops. Moon discs. Done.
What kind of look are you going for? What kind of wheels? For something wild the blue or purple flames would look good. For something more sedate a cream or white scallop that outlines the fenders would look good. Would have a custom feel to it then. The more I think about it orange would work on the scallops too. Here's what I mean when I say scallops Clark

[ QUOTE ] i will paint the cat in yellow but i need to two tone it. [/ QUOTE ] Weeeell, I ain't seen too many cats painted in two tones...most usually have stripes...unless of course, you're referring to a Caterpillar...those are usually Athletic Yellow and blak... Now about your Ford...if you're going to two-tone it, IMHO I'd split it at the belt line and continue the belt line into the side of the hood and follow the natural line down the trunk. Yellow would go on the bottom, Candy Tangerine on the top of the hood, the roof and down over the trunk...separate it all with a stripe of Lime Green, narrow on the hood and growing wider toward the rear, down alongside the trunk and then across it above the bumper.. Just my two cents, but it'd look better than putting stripes on it like a cats'! R-
love that idea 40 stud...thats what i am lookin for .here is another picture of it..maybe someone can photo shop it in that color for me please
[ QUOTE ] love that idea 40 stud...thats what i am lookin for [/ QUOTE ] I'd photo shop it if I could, Lefturn...but I'm not up on all that electronic pixelated stuff...I'm still using an old fashioned pen and ink...all done by the hand at the end of my arm... I'd bet the photo shoppers electronic paint guns can't differentiate between Candy Tangerine and orange.... R-
I vote fer the "Taxi" look. Yeller, w/ a fare listing and checkers. Put some "Latka" script underneath the winders and drive it with gloss black capless steelies. As far as a more traditional idea- I'm a huge fan of using stock colors to compliment the body. Maroons and creams, browns and dark greens. I think on the fat fendered cars, organic colors just look better. I wish I was better at photoshop, I'd make one for you. I'll give it a shot. -Crew
i wish it wasn't started in yellow but it will cost too much to change now. realy would like to two tone it . going to have it painted in the next 2 weeks in yellow then will see what to do . maybe tangerine top or lots of flames, to break up the yellow. realy would like a photo shop of the two color sceme or flames
okay, here's a rough as all hell photoshop. Simple brown and cream scheme, with moon disks and art-deco type graphics. Black pinstriping (much thinner than photo's) would frame things. -Crew
