This was a true barn find. sitting in a barn since 69. One owner. Purchased in 51 when he and his wife got married. I found a letter in the glove box stating that the owner carried a loaded 45 under the seat. It was signed by the sheriff. http://www.wreckedmetals.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album12&id=P1020891 http://www.wreckedmetals.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album12&id=P1020869 http://www.wreckedmetals.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album12&id=P1020867 http://www.wreckedmetals.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album12&id=P1020879 Tell me if these pictures don't work .THANKS
Story time. A friend of mine called me one morning. He said " I am at a estate sale. Come down here and buy this cadillac. " I told him the last thing I need is another project. But he insisted I come down there. As soon as I got there I knew I had to have it. I then called my wife to run it by her. All I had to say was " I found a 51 cadillac" She yelled at me "Buy it" . The owner was an old timer. He had given the car to his son. He told me when his son told him he was "getting a divorce". The old timer took his cadillac back from his son.
My dad is into old tractors. His old buddy was selling one so we went to look at it at a local repair shop. The mechanic was there and so was his buddy who happened to be the tracor owner's EX son in law. He said the father in law gave him that tractor and he used it for quite a few years till the got divorce. The father in law then took it back. Since we were there to buy it it was a little uncomfortable.
In my opinion those early fifties are the coolest Cads ever. That car is simply spectacular. Congrats on a great find, and a great friend that called you in on the deal!! Enjoy the cruiser!!~Sololobo~
I don't really have any plans for it. Just going to drive it like it is. I have chopped and modified every car I have owned. This one has survived this long. I have no desire to cut it up. It will probably get some paint it a year or so. Any suggestions?
Suggestions? Yes; Replace all hoses, belts, tires, and probably the wheel cylinder cups (Very likely the whole wheel cylinder). Change the transmission fluid and the brake fluid. Then drive it every day.
That baby deserves a repaint in the correct colors, although Boyd is looking down on this thinking how he'd like to cut it up!!!
Holy ****, that is one sweet & reet ride!!! Wish my wife yelled "Buy it!" to me once in a while... Anyway, I'm with you; get it mechanically sound and drive it. It's a gorgeous car to begin with and it's so damned solid it's amazing. You done real good!!
She is so perrrttyy in her virgin white paint! Damn Happy New Year!!! What a great find, you owe your friend big time !
Beautiful car. I might not even re-paint it for a while... Just drive it as-is for afew years. Any photos of the interior? Is it as nice as the exterior?
