They should fit pretty easily, they are both about the same size. I was going to do it but found some nice OE lenses. I saw a picture of it done though, they looked good.
I know I've seen it done before but I don't have any pictures. If you do this, can I have your old lenses? I need a couple of good '59 red lenses for my car.
I am going to have them. I am also thinking about running the old t-bird tail light sequencers as well.
That's one of my thoughts as well. Run all 6 lenses red, and put sequential flashers in the car like a Cougar or T-bird would have. Anyone done that before? I've seen the sequential flasher box in my Dad's '68 Cougar but I'm told they're super unreliable. Supposedly someone makes a solid state conversion kit, I'd like to know where I could get that and how hard it would be to retrofit.
My outer lights are 59 caddys with blue dots the middle are 56 chevy also with dots. the inner are not done yet but they will be red smaller bullets probably something similiar to a 63 vette lenses. I am also considering the sequential turn signals.
yeah they just need a little sanding and a lot of muscle (or more sanding) its a little difficult to get them seated right. then i used some clear silicone to seal up the edges and the 2 screw holes that are not used, due to press fit. i had a harder time finding something to fill the gap for the caddy lenses.
Anyone else who has done this caddy/edsel thing feel free to chime in I am interested on what was done to make the caddy lights fit right and look good, pm me
i used this stuff from work that looked like standard fuel or vacuum line but it was solid rubber, dont know that they used to use it for originally... it was a little too big so i shaved it down with a razor on the top and bottom. placed the rubber in the Edsel bucket. soaped the ***** up with dawn wrestled with it a bit and jammed it in there. rinsed it off, a little silicone on the backside to insure seal... pretty simple, just gotta get creative, the caddy lights are smaller by probably a half inch. so you gotta find something to work as a weather stripping to fill the gap.
