Christmas HAMB & Eggs, GMB style

Once again the Michigan folks are getting together to enjoy each others company over breakfast. We're going to meet at the Exit Restaurant at the Birch Run exit, northeast corner on Saturday Dec 13th. There is a buffet or you can order off a menu and they always reserve a large area for us. We're going to do 10am so those that are coming from the north, west coast and the Metro Detroit areas have enough time to get there.

Afterward Danimal has arranged a tour of a local wool mill. Not exactly hot rod related but the place has some very old machinery and should be interesting.

FuelPump is taking a head count for the place so they know how much room to set aside for us so if you are planning on attending speak up and let us know.

I'm looking forward to seeing some old pals and meeting some new ones too so if you've never attended a GMB get together now is your chance. We'd love to meet you and have the opportunity to get to know you.

Doubtful, but it IS Christmas!

I've spoken to Gary Zeilinger and he will give us a tour around 11:30 if that works for everyone. We can be there in about 15 minutes from the Exit. He's on Weiss Street just across from the Dodge dealership.

 

Zeilinger's (zwool.com) has a shop in the front with finished goods as well if you are looking for Christmas goodies like wool socks and such.

The equipment is all c.1900 and comes from all over. The mechanisms that clean the wool are really cool and then it gets turned into roving (like cotton candy), spun into yarn, and then knitted into socks. All right there.

I've used the roving and spun goods to weave up scarves and such and have made my own 'Mexican Blanket' for Court's truck. So it IS hot rod related!

 

So, wouldn't that be a "Blissfield Blanket"?

Doggone! I was gonna see when there'd be a git together in this area. But I gotta run down to Charleston WV on the 13th. I haven't been on here long, but would love to meet some of you folks I know only from reading stuff here. maybe next time!

Sallys?? We've been meeting for breakfast since 2002 and alot of the folks drive 2 or more hours to get there. You drive 2 hours to get to breakfast every week?? Didn't think so. I for one have LOTS of other interest thoughout the year to be able to make a weekly breakfast thing. Thanks for your interest in our breakfast get-together though.

 

Only EAT breffast on special occasions.

Hahaha they didn't seem so serious to me when I joined them a couple of years ago. What a GREAT bunch of folks - I made some lasting friendships that morning.

FoMoCoPower is a SW Chicago HAMB and Egg's regular (when he isn't driving two hours away to attend an auction instead) and as such he was just pokin' a little fun at you guys.

Whether once-a-week, once-a-month or once-a-year, the important thing is getting together. Merry Christmas GMB's!

 

I am gonna try to be there... I will attempt to get some of the other hooligans from around here to show up too.

 

Finally met QZJRD5 today at his desk at GM. I was going to mention this to him but he had to go meet with his boss. Kind of a serious boss so I figured I best not get him into too much more trouble!! He said he'd met jdubbya and some other Flinty folks not that long ago. Maybe I can convince him to be there!

 

I'll be there if the weather lets up and I can escape from ice staion zebra.

Glad to hear Frank is doing well and planning on attending. Did he get his internet turned off or something??? He'd usually be all over a thread like this.

Frank is fine. He was at his Mom's in Ohio all week and probably didn't have internet down there. Ohio is a little behind the times ya know.

 

How the Hell did I miss this? I'll try to make it, but I get out of work at 7am Saturday morning and I have to work that night too. I should probably start chipping the ice out of the driveway right now if I want to take the sedan.

 

OK all I'll call the Exit early tomorrow morning and tell them 16 at 10:00 so you all better show up.
