I REALLY loved it when one of the HAMB HEROS told me I "wasted" a perfectly good 392 Hemi running it in MY car. I guess his point was I shoulda saved it for something more worthy like an early coupe or something. Problem is, I already got an early hemi in my 34 Plymouth coupe....got one in my old truck too - I suppose that one is "wasted" too. I'm far from an old timer, but I was shaking the tree branches for Hemi Pieces Parts when some of you were just wee little tykes.

The little blivets that I purposely left in the body just so that it didn't look like a kit car.:D

They always ask me why I didn't cut off and fill the fender studs? I say because they are not an option on a Brookville body.:D And yes I enjoy tweeking the no-it-alls that don't understand.

  6. Ummm....let's see...

    It's not a Ford.

    It's not a Chevy.

    It IS an International.

It has the same engine as a combine.

    It's kinda ugly.

In reality, it's like that funny looking 3rd cousin at family gatherings that nobody really talks to.

But the worst has to be the length of my shifter.

It drives certain people around the bend.

I just think it makes a great armrest in 4th. :D

I took off the Torq Thrust II's off my Nova and replaced them with 17" polished aluminum Coy's. Frankly, I ignored the nay-sayers. It's my (actually my wife's) car and I (she) likes them.

The dead orphans in the trunk. Hey, they make good wheel chocks and help lower the ass end. Plus, they are cheaper than those timeout dolls when I use them in my show display.

My dad wouldn't drive the 48 Pickup or the 51 Merc because neither had a full compliment of working gages in it. He couldn't figure out that if you filled the 16 gallon tank and it got 16 miles to the gallon you had a 256 mile range and had better look for a gas station at the 200 mile mark to give a few miles of breathing room.

Other comments over the years have been =
"Why did you chop the top on that? Those are rare". Chevy-GMC Truckin Nationals 1982 The truck was parked next to the Dream Truck. I had to tell the guy that where I lived farmers still used them to do field work at that time.
"Won't the engine get wet when it rains" Multiple spectators at rod trots.
"How do you drive that thing when it is so low"? Too many to count.
"What good is a truck that is that low? You can't take it up in the woods". Redneck complete with beat up 4X and camo gear.

You only need to Purposely build them to please others if you are hunting trophies.

The best part, a lot of sneaked flirtatious looks from gals of various ages riding in BMWs or the like.

Everyone hates the rusty car with no hood. Most people hate the SBF in a Mopar. Some like the color and pseudo-rare bodystyle, but they all like the wheels and stance. :D

I couldn't care less... it's my piece of crap and I love it.

Nobody liked it when I cut the coils and put lowering blocks on my cars in the seventies. I was called a beaner at the Nationals South back in 78 or so. Now they snicker when they see don't see a mustang front end on my 51 Chevy. They also laugh when they see the three on the tree and the torque tube too. Thats the stuff I like, why change something that works! But this has always been muscle car land around where I live. They are really going not understand when the top comes down 4 in., but its not as bad as it use to be.:D

They get upset cause its a VW, cause the front scrapes the street, cause the butt is to wide & to high, cause the top is to low and cause their chick digs it:cool:

Folks gripe about the tail lights in the back door, and the van windows on the side (I don't like em much either)

That I haven't built it yet.
Friends keep kicking me in the junk about 'not building' it, even though I've amassed pretty much everything besides a body to start building it, but I've got the body figured out too. The shit that's piled up isn't all that special I guess, but it's taken a while is all

The reason they don't like it is obvious, I reckon- the reason I DO like it might not be so obvious. I like it because I'm not in a terrible hurry because I know that the more planning and designing I do in my head, the more happy I'll be with it and the more it will turn out as I want it to be.

For some reason mopar purest think they have the say so over all that is mopar. They hate that I've customised an old Chrysler. That I want to chop the top. That I have altered the body with shaving the door handles and removing the stock tail light's, front turn signal's, ect. I had one guy yell at me at a show over it... whatever.

Cause Its flat black and occasionally I pull out a rattle can from the trunk and touch it up at car shows, especially when I'm parked next to a show room fresh "show" car.

I just love small block Chevys! I know it's not "cool" to admit it but I run one in my roadster not because I'm too stoopid or too cheap to put a vintage engine in there, (a 303 Olds would be neat), but because I just plain love um. Generally pisses most folks off.

I'll second that! The reason they have been used so often in hot rods is because they KICK ASS!! They are super reliable and easy to get lots of horsepower from.

well other then that fact im 19 with this shit.
The fact i have disk brakes, power steering, a fuel cell, Ratcher shifter, intake & big carb.....and for some reason people think the thing being finished as a 'custom' is wrong? i thought what it looks like matters, not the parts that will allow me to drive the ever-loving piss out of it like i will be.

  30. Thanks fellas. i was going for the look that you saw in the little books when they would have small pics of the drags.
