    What a mess!!!!

I bought this as a basket case. I'm trading Paintin' Dude a car to do the bodywork and paint, and I'm bringing all the pieces home for reassembly.

Is there anybody out there that can wither tell me where to find one of the following?:

    1. Find a body manual for my "mess".

    2. Find a set of "Crash Sheets" for my "mess".

    3. Find an exploded diagram of the body parts and where they go.

    4. Find someone to post an exploded body parts diagram.

I mean, I'm not a total******** and can totally see where tab A fits into Slot B (there's nothing to these trucks, really) - I just don't want to find myself scratching my head because something isn't fitting quite right, not knowing that I'm missing a piece, you know?

That's "Paintin' Dude" (John) by the way. cadillaccoffin hooked me up with his Craigslist ad. Dude is a MACHINE!!!

FYI - I've already looked on eBay, and folks say the factory manual is about worthless, containing only information about changing oil and tune-ups, etc. :(

Mine's a '50 F2. I'm pretty much looking for an exploded diagram of the body parts. Stuff like these, stolen from the LMC Truck website:

I mean, LMC got 'em from SOMEWHERE! The book they got those out of is what I'd love to take a crack at. Maybe take a few "spy photos" of some of the pages, like James Bond.

Another good source of exploded drawings is LMC Trucks catalog.

NO basket case should ever be bodyworked and painted without first dry****embling everything to test the fit. If you do, I will GUARANTEE parts won't fit right upon****embly after paint.

i agree with alchemy bolt it together in mock-up see what is gonna give you problems before you have shiny new paint to scratch all to hell

if you wanna get the metal covered, prime it then mock up.

there are body parts manuals for these(thats where lmc got the drawings) its a companion for the factory service manual and i believe they are reproduced as are the service manuals. ebay should have them or swap meet book sellers I think i got mine from a friend who worked at an old dealership in town. I havent looked at mine for awhile but I think 51 or 2 was the first year so you are on your own for the grill area if you have a 48-50

if you cant find one then let me know i can photo some pages for you or scan but you would probably rather have a copy good luck

I agree with the mockup, and these have been hand-fitted previously. I got lucky, as all the parts were pretty straight but the fenders. Basically, dude's banging out a few dimples and welding in a few patches, then shooting primer and painting. Believe me, I was pretty concerned about things not fitting, hence the mockup before carting the parts out there.

The body parts manuals are exactly what I'm after, but have been unsuccessful in finding them. Then again, "Body Parts Manual" was not amongst the search terms I was feeding Google. Garbage in, garbage out. :)

Just go to a dealer in parts for these, like C&G Ford, and root through the book section. Most of the good stuff is reproduced. A set of parts manuals is oft more useful than the shop manual.
