first its 1955 chevy pickup 3100 2nd series. im thinking about lowering it and i want to do a drop axel in front and monoleafsprings in back. now to put the mono's on do you have to cut the stock shackels off or can u just bolt them on. if any body has any tips please let me know. also is there any other options in back that i could just bolt on? let me know please. if you have any pics post them please i would like to see how it would look. im looking to lower it 3 inches or so. thanks

  2. Hey there 93. I put Posie low rider springs on my truck. Used the stock shackles. These will lower your truck about 3 inches. I put my axle on top of the spring and this got me an additional 4 inches but I had to C-notch the frame about 7 inches to clear the axle and raise the floor of the bed 5 inches also.

Roughest ride I ever had was my 55 pickup with dropped mono leafs. And I drove truck for a living. Seriously there must be a better way to drop these than monos. By the way I sold it and have a straight axle 34 that rides great compared to that pickup. My .02, Tom

I had mono leaf springs on the front of my 57 for years. The ride wasn't bad. The problem I had was with the steering. After rebuilding the steering box, putting a new/used box in and putting a stabilizer on I decided to install an IFS kit. I am at the midway point with the install. If you are interested I am looking to sell my mono leafs and lowered shocks.

**** thanks man the truck looks great. 34roadster did you put monos and drop axel on the front because i heard that if you have both in front you wont have a good ride. i was thinking just a drop axel in front and monos for back.
    thanks
