i,ve been in his yard, most of the stuff down in back sets in a mud hole, all i can say about the place, is if he gives you a price on a car, you better pay him then, cause when you go back he will change his mind.if i remenber right the yard you took pics of is called lanes.
therewas another yard down the road on the left, he is a little higher but you can deal with him. the name is prichards.

Pretty cool stuff there and nice to see pictures of it.

I'm a flagrant tressp***er, in the business of looking for old drag strips you have to be. Just keep an eye peeled and have excuses ready if there is nobody to seek permission from. A quick slap of the thigh and shout "here boy" can disguise the racing tee shirt and camera around the neck long enough to make a run for it. :D

I figure my next trip will be up in your neck of the woods. Anything hiding up there?

I missed the other yard. I turned off onto another road heading east not long after I went p*** this yard. What is the other yard like? old stuff?

prichards had old stuff, he,s a little high, but he,s good to talk too. his boys are into drag racing. i have not been there in a few years so i don,t know what is left.

  6. Naw you can tell that the guy dont want to sell anything. If he wanted to sell it would have for sale written on it with a phone number. Also he would have crushed some of it when prices where high. All you can do with those types is wait for them to die:eek: . Their disease get,s worse as they get older. How do i know this? Well i kinda like that myself:eek:. If i give you a price it is todays price at that moment a hour later it might not even be for sale. I could probably get along with him .We could compare tactics on how to annoy low ballers and lookers ect:cool:. As far as those cars rotting away they have depreciated about as much as they ever will. In his eye,s they are worth more with each p***ing day. In fact he will probably buy more when he can find them.

  7. Wow thats some pretty good stuff, that old *******!!!! lets hope those cars dont get s****ed

I see you came through Fayetteville Tn judging by the theater marque. If you had gone north out of there on highway 431 a few miles you would have seen Holt's salvage yard on your right. He has a couple hundred acres of stuff mostly 50-60's.Most of it is rusted pretty badly and his prices are high, but he still sells parts and cars.Just don't go on Sunday,he will consider you as Godless and not even talk to you.

Oh yeah, you are SO lucky you didn't end up in the trunk of one of those cars! But I'm really jealous. I used to do that very thing about 35 or so years ago when I was stationed in South Carolina with the Air Force. Most of us that ran together were northern boys but one was from the area & "talked the talk"- it helped. And another buddy was black so there were places we avoided if you know what I mean? It was a different time back then... but man, did we find the cars! Wish I'd taken a camera. Some of those pics you posted takes me back. But just be careful and if you hear banjo music, run. FAST! :D Got more pics?

You spoke of not knowing where you were on 127. You were in Jamestown, TN near Crossville. I have heard about that yard many a times but I figured why waste my time if the guy wont budge which is his right. IT would be cool if a thread could get started listing old yards like this one that will let people look around and stuff.

the lot with all the cars in it looks like an old parking lot from the 50's. Great pictures.

Thats J.C. Lanes yard, He seems like a pretty good ole guy to me. I have talked to him a couple of times, He doesnt realy want to let people in his yard just to look, for liability reasons etc. I called him a few months ago asking if he might have any of the little wagons like I was looking for, He said no but he did have a 59 vauxhall sedan that had been hit hard in the front in case I were to need parts.
He will tell you there is nothing back there worth fixing and he just wants to part them out, Not sure about the cars behind the fence though, you would probably have to make a offer on them and he would just say yes or no.

That is one reason I don't post on the HAMB as much as I use to. Homo's like you that want to start ****. The post was to let you in on the yard I found in case someone wanted to check it out. As far as I care you can keep your remarks to yourself. The wheels were not my first choice but they where cheap and they don't wobble like the steelies did. I love key board tough guys.

  17. Reb, remarks like those don't even merit a response.

That trip sounds like a kick *** time. You know it is freaking sad that there is not a single thread on here without someone *****in about something. If these people came into our shop with that at***ude they would be told to leave and never come back! Why can't everyone just settle down and enjoy the cool pics and info that can be attained here?

Myself and some club members found another yard to hit but we are not going till second week in January. It does have some old iron in there. Anyone wanting to tag along is more than welcome to. It's in Ohio. We may also run down in Ky to another one on the same day that I haven't been to yet. The one in Ky is suppose to have some old stuff in it too. I've seen pics. Both yards look like we should be able to find some cool stuff. You can PM me and leave you number and I will give you a buzz on a time and place we are going to meet for breakfast before we go.

I've taken a vacation for the last 4 years to a lost wrecking yard. The yard owner expects a call every spring after the thaw, a few friends and I spend 3-4 days pulling parts for our projects, we stay in the same motel every year, eat at the greasy s**** for breakfast and drink at the corner dive bar etc. Its getting harder to find the "scores" we did the first few years, I guess its time we start looking farther north to find our next vacation spot.

This is the view looking into the merc section
