I have been searching for a while. I found some pictures which i have included, but i am just wondering if these rims are stock, and what size they are. How hard are they to find? To me, it looks a lot bigger than a 16" steel wheel. Maybe it is, but i dont know. they look a little skinny too...

  2. If they're tubeless they're either a 17.5 or 19.5 diameter rim. They were abundant in the 1950s and into the 1960s. You might run across them in an old truck junkyard on a bread delivery truck or something similar.

i thought that they were bigger than 16"ers. thank you sir. I assume that they were only offered on the 4x4 and HEAVY duty trucks?

Those look like Ford 19.5" to me.

16" were optional on F100s, and the 17.5 and 19.5 were optional on F250s. As far as I know you could get the optional wheels on either 2wd or 4wd trucks.

I purchased a 1959 F250 from a fire dept. that bought it new in 1959. It has 10,300 miles on it and I would like to restore it. It has a new spare with it that is one of these 17.5" wheels and I have been looking unsucsessfully for 3 more wheels. Someone changed the wheels to 16" split rims.

Does anyone know where you can find these? Looked at Coker Tire and they carry a 20x4.5 5-lug but have had no luck finding the 19.5 8-lug.

  9. 1959 was the first year that Ford built any of their 4WD trucks in-house, but that was initially limited to the F100. Before that, all 'factory' models were converted by Marmon-Herrington. This F250 was probably still a 'conversion' so those wheels were very likely aftermarket. Plus not all were necessarily done by M-H; there was several other suppliers who did individual customer and fleet conversions. Bottom line, don't limit your search to Ford only; chances are very good that these were used on other makes that were converted. That still won't make them common... 4WD trucks of any brand were pretty rare until the mid-'60s. Try vintage 4WD sites, a lot of the parts were common across lines.

I have a 1957 F250 two wheel drive that my Dad bought new, it came stock with those wheels. I believe they are 19.5”. Not near her right now to confirm the size.
