Rodder's Journal, old original rod mags from the 50's and 60's, and Hot Rod Deluxe. I'm stoked they brought back Hot Rod Deluxe, I've liked it since those few copies came out years ago. I'll still look at those issues now and then.
Best The Rodders Journal Traditional Rod and Kulture Kustoms Illustrated Worst CK Delux Ol Skool Rodz But yet I still subscribe for the 1-2 articles a year they get right...
I'm biased, because I write for Hot Rod Deluxe as a freelancer, but I write for them because I really like the way it covers our corner of the market. Big features with a ton of detail on the car, lots of historical stuff from the HR archives, collections of stuff guys are preserving for the love of it, obsolete tech, and tech on new stuff with an old bent. Like I said, I'm biased, but the mag has everything I like about nostalgia rodding, so it makes it easy for me to contribute. -Brad
thats so true. No rusty rats with some ugly chick in front of it. I get the TRJ - the best mag ever! DICE Rolls & Pleats Kl***ik Automobil(german) Audi Scene(also german) I'm in germany and subscribe to those mags. They are all great! And the best thing is, there are no ugly pin ups. Guys I wanna see cars!! I got a nice chick at home already
Cheers fellas, that's given me some much needed inspiration! I wil treat myself to a couple of subs as a Christmas present. Seasons greetings to everyone! Mark
Hot Rod Deluxe is a good one. Hometown Hot Rod Magazine is the one "traditional" rodding magazine I subscribe to(doesn't hurt that it's somewhat locally produced...he's up in Ft. Wayne, I'm in Indy)....John does a bang-up job, and while only a bi-monthly deal, it's well worth every cent! Traditional Rod and Culture Illustrated is one I just picked up from the newstand...not bad, similar to HHRM. I don't post a lot here, but I lurk like crazy......plenty of good stuff right here on the H.A.M.B.
I think it's a matter of keeping an open mind. I like all kinds of magazines, that run from traditional hot rods to import cars and even expensive billet style rods. It's not necessarily the cars I look at as much as the ideas and the craftmanship. I even have some ideas from Gr***roots Motorsports that I will use. I like seeing the cars, don't get me wrong. But it's what I can take from that car or from a 'How-To' that keeps me looking at one rag or another.
yeah my favorites now. I like hometown hot rods too. Got my new magneto mags(new issue, and 06 mag/calender)fast service!!! If you liked it before you will love it now.
Favorite Rims.............<WIDOW MAKERS>.................. 16" Split Rims welded to Chev Pattern Center sporting 16" Blue Streaks.................and they were used.......
Well, Santa came up trumps and delivered my first issue of TRJ over the holidays. Ive read it through in detail and cant wait for the next one. You guys were right about the quality of photographs and articles. Thats the one I was after - thoroughly recommended!!! Happy new year.
''OLD CARS WEEKLY'' very very cool, my favorite magazine ''to read'' by far but the world cl*** ''to look at pictures'' magazine is, and will always be TRJ
Here's my thought on car mags, they're a good way to get temped into the hobby. You see many different styles and start to figure out what really sets your heart a fire and can begin to learn from there once you've been bitten. Since we're already on the hamb we've found a great source of traditional rods and tech but as far as taking the hamb to the thunderpot goes... instead of spending money on magazines these days I save $20 or so and buy myself a book. I've made a nice library for myself and it's been a cost effective way to stoke my interest away from the computer. I've been through my collection of mags and added up the cost and it's pretty alarming, inspiring as they have been I'd rather have spent the money on parts, tools, or books that lack page after page of advertising and are more direct to the info I truly seek. TRJ, Gr***roots is a fav though not really hamb friendly
