  2. I guess my day may be coming, although I've probably bought all I will for awhile, but I have bought 3 cars off the internet, sight un-seen, and a motorcycle (that I rode from CT to FL) and I haven't been burned yet. I guess I'm a lucky SOB. I bought my '56 Ford from an internet site and I went all the way to CO from FL to pick it up. It wasn't an Ebay thingy, in fact it didn't even say it was for sale. I had to ask him if it was for sale. I am happy as a pig in shit with it. I bought a Lincoln Navigator from a dealer in S. FL on Ebay. Only problem with it was rust on the roof. It was still under warranty and Lincoln put a new roof on it. It's been a fine ride ever since. My last acqusition<style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} </style> <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext="edit" spidmax="1026"/> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext="edit"> <o:idmap v:ext="edit" data="1"/> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--> was a Pontiac Sunbird. It also was from a dealer on Ebay. So I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best. Back when I got all of this stuff I didn't know any HAMB'ers to go look at them. Before I buy another one I'll ask on here if someone can do that. I'll say one thing, I can understand you going to get that Caddy. In those pictures it look like a nice ride. Don't know about the 20K part to begin with though. It really looks good in those photos.

Another thing you can try, which, I tend to often do to get a better look at something, is right-click on the picture you want to see, and select VIEW IMAGE if you're running firefox. It will open the picture into the highest resolution possible.
Usually you can get a better look at what you want to see from the larger picture.
Now, I'm not saying that you'll be able to see how the doors are going to shut, or deception of a picture that was taken 10 years ago, as in this case.. but, if someone does not resize the image properly when they are placing the picture onto the webpage(a LOT of people do this), you can usually get the full-size image and see a lot larger, cleaner image with all the details!

    Just a thought!!
I feel bad for ya, guy... but, at least you didn't drive down!!
I probably would have lost it on the guy, too.
What do they say? A lesson learned is.... ahh.. I forget.

    Yeah,
This isn't the first time and probably won't be the last time someone tries to paint a pretty picture of something their trying to sell. That's life I'm aware. I just wanted anyone who wasn't aware to be aware that the advertisement tricked me and before anyone goes down and checks any of his junk out, remember this thread. Thanks for the replies. I think next time I'm going to use this website wisely and consult my fellow HAMB'ers and see if someone can swing by and take a quick look at a prospect for me. Thanks everyone!
I thought about being liable for what I had wrote but you know what. I was so fumed I didn't care. I didn't say anything that wasn't true. I could print off that internet photo and get a photo of that poor car thats sitting on his lot and ask anyone in their right mind if it's false advertiseing. I mean, the car doesn't even look close to the ad. The car looks pathetic in person, the ad looks like a gem. On to the next.

Do you have a few pics you can send me? I'm looking for something I can drive while I work on it. I was wanting something a little bit more done. I really like the proportion of the Series 62 so I just want to make it nice, do a mild custom. I have a few other cars I'm looking at right now but I'd l'd love to see what you have.

I agree with you 100% SOCAL PETE and you're right... however, it's been true as well, that threads have been printed off and saved for evidence. Threats and such do not fall under freedom of speech. Telling us to be aware is fine, fact or not, there's no problem. It's when the thread spins out of control and people make "breaking leg" comments that problems arise. Those problems can be associate with the person making the original claim. I"m not talking prison-term type of problems but sometimes hiring/paying a lawyer to get the facts straight is penalty enough.

i wouldnt worry about this guy going after defimation lawsuits..hes a cheap bastard..and cheap bastards dont like to pay blood suckers for their work ..why? because they lay in the same bed!..warning others is a good idea..getting in deep on this thread with violent threats will only hurt the warning to others by getting this thread shut down , than other HAMBers will not be made aware of this persons practices

    thanks for the heads up

Yep, and I'd rather have a spoonfull of cat shit than do business with him either. Overpriced shit, period. There is a sucker born every minute, I guess that is what keeps the lights on, or maybe dealing white coffee, who knows?

  10. Oh yeah, I've known of this guy for over 25 years. There is nothing on this thread that I can add to. To know him is to scorn him IMHO. Never do business with him. Its a shame that most of his cars will just rust into the ground out in that field when they could be saved if he were honest and reasonable in his prices IMHO.

  11. I bought my heap of a shoebox off the e-bay, after looking all over for something that was in better shape I decided that 800. wasn't to bad. So I blast out of work early with the trailer on my way to north dakota get there. sleep in the truck as it was an 18 hr drive to look at the heap, I just bought figuring hey 800.00 how wrong could I go, I figured the flattie in it would be scrap as it sat in a field with no h20 pumps or carb since 1968. on the way home with it on the trailer I got 3 offers for it one double what I paid, and one almost triple.......I should have taken it. lol now I have a project at least...... and the flattie after disassembly magnafluxing and sonic checking is solid. I think it was worth it, but I would be extremely leery about doing it again.
