I joined the HAMB last year, and when I posted my intro, I think I prob came across as a bit of a ****. I didnt really understand what the HAMB was all about, and as I was in the midst of trying to be a compe***or of the 10 inch tire fad, I thought that any old tech stuff was substandard. Now that I have grown a year older, the economy has taken a turn for the worse, and the 10 inch tire fast street car thing has run its course, I decided to return to a simpler kind of ride. Since my first `57 Ford over 12 years ago, I had liked the way the old cars looked without the engine in it, high in front, etc. My best friend had always tried to coerce me into building a g***er style car, but I was too busy with other money spending projects, so I never did it. With me not trying to be the next dragstrip superstar, I though I could go old school and not worry about trying to get into the 10's, 9's or whatever. I can build my car my way, and still have fun at the track when I want to go. I spoke with a couple guys down here in Mississippi, who both have straight axle cars, and they drive the bejeesus outa them. That is more fun than wrenching on it all week, trailer it to the track, and either not qualify or go out in the first or second round, because I didnt spend enough on the car. I still love the drag racing, I still love the low fast look. I also love the `60s g***er look, and I have to thank my best bud and all you guys here on the HAMB for keeping the focus here on what it should be: having fun with these old cars. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Hupmobile, what ever, I love them all. I guess the point of all this is to apologize to the guys on here that I offended on my arrival, and to try and regain favor with you. If I don't, I'll just try harder. Like I said, I was just a misled pup when I joined. Now, I see the beauty of old school, simple, well-built hot rods, that don't require a trust fund or illegal activity to finance. Again, to those of you who I directly pissed off with my inital intro last year, I apologize and hope to contribute something to the HAMB...Thanks for taking the time to read.....James P
Hey Those solid axel cars can be the greatest riding ever if set up right andspeedmaven I am 70 and still drive a solid axle channeled a bone.
Welcome back....half of the guys on here are a bit of a **** and the rest are a bit of an *** so I wouldn't worry to much you'll fit right in NOW......
