You forgot about the prancing unicorn we were talking about putting down the side of it, you know, the one that leaves the rainbow trail behind it? And maybe a mural on the back with a scene from the movie Cinderella.

  4. Update: The Cockroach will be staying in Texas, I am the new caretaker! I just picked it up this afternoon, so you Texas HAMBR'S will be seeing it around. Many thanks to Nick32Vick and Figiter for giving me the details of the car, it is definitely as good as you said it was, if not better! It drove real nice up 35 all the way home. I will take good care of it Nick, I promise. No, the nailhead will not be replaced with a flathead!

KICK ASS CHRIS! I'm really glad the deal went through. I know the car is in good hands....

If you ever need someone to drive it for you, give me a call :D

Now, who has the front name plate? It wasn't there at the auction....Nick, did you keep it? Or did the other guy take it off cause he didn't think anyone would want to buy a car called the "Cockroach," haha.

I just texted Nick the good news, he's very happy. Also, He does not have the front plate...

  8. Thanks Fidgiter and Fraz! Man am I excited, this car is soo cool I still can not believe I have it. And my wife is so supportive,it is unreal, I am a lucky guy.
I asked Richard about the plate the first time I asked him about this car, he did not even know it was called the Cockroach? So, no plate. If I can not find it, I will have one of the talented local stripers reproduce one for me, it really belongs on the car.

I know you guys have seen this car on this board and are very familiar with it, but I have never seen any underbody shots of the car. I did not realize this car also has a chromed (or polished) floor on the bottom side of the body, the complete exhaust system is plated, mufflers and all. Just bitchin. I will post some underside shots after I get it on the lift tonight.
Nick, if you are out there, check your PM's. Thanks!

    Yee Haw!

HELL YES! Makes me so happy!!!!!!!!!

The floor is chrome. I could be wrong but I think the plates that are covering the inside of the frame are polished aluminum or maybe stainless? Im not sure.

Ill give you the number to the guy who bought it from us. I fuckin hope he didnt throw that plate away. Hes a dope if he did.

Will you have it at the roundup? I would love you see it again.

Ill give you my number to call me. I have some stuff for you.

  10. Nick,
I can't wait to talk to you about the car, I really want to learn as much as I can about the Cockroach. I don't think everyone realized the floor was chrome, I sure did'nt realize it. Now I understand what you meant by all of the work it was to clean the car! I have spent the last 2 hours under the car admiring the fabrication work done over 45 years ago. The original builder was very creative. Here are a couple of shots of the under carriage and the new den for the Cockroach.

That's awesome that you ended up with the Cockroach, Chris!!

I had the pleasure of seeing the car up in Illinois last year....it's a really unique and well built hot rod. Congrats!

  18. Thanks Brian, I agree with you, there was some very creative planning in the build of this car, that was the real bonus in the purchase of this car. I am still in shock that I have it, when the weather warms up, I will bring it out to your shop.

Dang, the more I talk to Chris the more happy I am that he got it. I just wanted someone to get the car that appreciates it for what it is and I am certain Chris is that guy. Thanks again for taking care of it.

  20. Nick, I am so honored to be the new caretaker of the Cockroach, you have no idea. I am glad you are happy. And I sure appreciate your help and insight. There are a lot of hot rodders (HAMB'rs)in the Dallas area that will have an opportunity to appreciate this bad boy first hand.
