I was looking at the pics from the Mooneyes Show and saw the Ford truck with the striped panel paint job and I think it is the best looking truck I have seen in a very long time. And last years paint job on KIRKS! Starliner (may cause dangerous) is the best looking car I have seen in a long time. Hmm, I am starting to see a trend here. I'm no expert and hell, I've never met the Gambino family but I do know I like what I see. Alex just may be the premier painter in America still working right now. Here are some photos taken by Dreadman (who is a fantastic photographer) of the truck. You can see the rest of Dreadman's photos of this show here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=316767

Wow! Those colors couldnt do the job better. What an original layout. It doesnt look like anything I ever saw but still works great on a truck that looks like It could have been in the Long Beach Renegades back in the 50s.

no discredit to Gambino, his work is off the charts but I think as far as paint jobs go he is just coming outside of the box for the current trends. I may not be one to talk seeing Im still a newb (4yrs), through research and a lot of lurking though I see most in the past years have stuck with flats, flames, or some crazy candy pearl combo. Even scallop jobs and crazy 70's style jobs like the F100 pictured are a rare sight these days, so when one does arise its like WOW!....That F100 is ***s all day long and when fotos came up last night i stared at them for atleast a good hour, i tip my porkpie to Alex for that one. Keep an eye out though, there are a few shops slow but surely brining that style back...Im a fan, on my next c10 or maybe even a old burb Im going that route too.

He is an awesome painter and the truck reflects that. For compe***ion, I would submit Darin Irvine of Custom Automotive Restoration, Northport, Michigan for his paint work and ability to match pearl repairs that rivals Stan Betz' reputation.

He forgot to put clear on it.
He did a very nice job with the layout and keeping everything even. Barris done a truck like this in '56 I think. It was a '54.

I wouldn't label Alex as Just a Painter... he's a Custom Builder, Fabricator, Painter, Designer and pretty much the coolest MF'er ever... Alex within the next few years will
be held high in the ranks of some of the best custom builders..

Lots of Love to my Homie ALEX GAMBINO

and of course his crew should get much props as well..

I'll say this much for him, if nothing else he's at least one of the hardest working crafstmen out there. Does this guy ever sleep? Also having seen "May cause dangerous" in person, it is truly an astounding, and breathtaking accomplishment, one of the most beautiful custom cars I have had the pleasure of seeing. Props to Alex, and his crew.

For kustom stuff, I'd say that Alex and Donny are my two faves.

That is not just a cool custom truck, it is art. Alex isn't just a great customizer, the man is an artist. You can't just be a great painter and do something like that. You need to be an artist who is also a great painter and auto customizer. That truck is really a piece of artwork in my book. Kirk's car too. You can just really tell he really is into and loves what he does. You can't work that hard on something and kick out stuff that nice without having your heart in it. Look at those photos and tell me what stands out. It is hard to even focus on the other cars around it. That truck sings and pops.
