Hide the presents in the project car huh? I never though of that. I dont usually by many presents (20 y/o full time college student) but my parents and g/f always find out what i got them.

Not to thread jack, but i have to ask. EricVA, is this your basement? And its in the blasting cabinet, right?

29Nash, I am sure that he will still like the gift. Explain the story to him. I thought it was hilarious, especially if you can prove that its 12 years old by the copyright date on the box!

LOL, you people are all SICK... and I hide my gifts in my cars too!

Since the A is on the road now (wasn't last year) and I can't turn the key without them piling in, we had to find a new location. Now we're hiding them in my dad's shop, but since the kids are in there often too the presents are locked in the trunk of his '55 Bel Air HT.

yep, weve been doing it for about 8 years in a project wagon that hasnt progressed in 8 years, it just holds presents, parts and a chunk of my old hot wheels collection. pile em up in the back, pull them out at about 3 am christmas morning, start wrapping then as soon as we hear the kids waking each over up around 6 am we go and pretend we are asleep.

  5. When my kids were small,,they would sneek all around the house looking for their Christmas presents,,,

I hid them in plain sight,,,they had other peoples names on the tags,,,they never caught on,,,,now we just give them something that is always the right color and fits everytime,,,CASH!:D HRP

Trunk is loaded, best place ever to hide stuff. Matter of fact momma will be unloading and wrapping today while I take the kids out, then back to the trunk they go.

Yep, that's my basement and yep, it's all in the blast cabinet. Just have to wait till no one is around so I can unload it and use it.

Nice nice, how did you go about putting the bigger things in there? Like the car frame, and the blasting cabinet etc. I assume there must be a BIG door that goes to a patio or something?

There is just a regular entry door and walk up stairs to the ground level. The car came down one piece at a time. The cabinet had to come through the house. What a cluster that was. Had to remove some doors and door jambs, still left "scars" on the house and the cabinet.
Nice to be indoors though, never too hot or cold.

so then are you going to assemble the car in the basement, then knock a hole in the wall to get it out. lol. I assume that you will disassemble it all before you finally get it ready to go outside?

I've been using my 37 Chevy sedan as my hiding spot for years. It's like Santa's red sleigh. I thought that I was the only one until dad went to sell a 1955 Chevy pickup project (only project that he started but never finished). We were cleaning it out and he found a gift for mom that was couple years past due. I figured at that time that it was just a genetic thing to hide them in the rod. This thread just proves that car dudes are a breed of their own.

Locked in the trunk of the '59, keys on the front seat. My kids wouldn't even think of touching that car without me around. Remember, Santa drives a Lead Sled!
