I can't remember the exact issue, but back around 1989 or 90, Hot Rod featured a wicked blown Hemi shoebox with radiused wells. Hopefully someone will have a picture of it (the color was red and I believe it was the pull-out feature).

One of the best looking ever (with exception of the Valley Customs Ron Dunn Ford)

  15. Lee.....That's the car I look at every morning. Not the real one, but the pull-out I had mounted on Foamboard. It's owner is a familiar name, COLE...CUTTER Maybe.....I just can't grab it right now. Someone will come up with it. What a beautiful ride!! I like these cars because they have that great Gasser look that was easy to do when I was a kid building AMT kits.....It's still a great look! Thanks....Centurion9

The chopped convertible has always been a favorite, it has a real tough attitude sorta, while still being understated.

I had that same fold-out pinned to my wall in college. They definitely nailed the look on that car. Hopefully someone still has a picture off it they can post (I lost that issue years ago).

Not to threadjack here, but anyone got any pictures early 60's Comets with radiused rear wheel wells? I was thinking of doing mine.

I agree with the above selections, and would add these two more:

Seems like this has most often been done on sectioned cars, but not exclusively. I really like the shape of the stock rear wheel openings on shoeboxes, but the radiused wells look great on the right car.

  23. Sorry guys,but i've never liked that look. A Shoebox without skirts is one thing,but radiused,to me ,just looks bad...Kinda like radiusing a 55Chevy,that ISN'T a Gasser!

That's the car......I wonder if it ever saw the strip. Should fly with a huffed 672.

I thought that name was familiar......Cole also built this '34 Ford back in the late 80's. Another one of my favorites from that era:

Coles car is the one that made me want to buy mine in 1990… I went a different direction with mine… but I still dig that thing! Cool!
