Oh yeah...that look's like steel to me!! And BAD***! From all of us on the HAMB, i want to say thanks for the tease bobwop Bobwop, look's like your using the original frame..I ***ume once properly boxed and reinforced one would be fine for street/strip use?? Or is it a give in to build one? DDR, i saw those too..who woulda thought years ago they would be that expensive now..unreal.. Nice stuff though, i'm sure at that price they would end up in a good home.. I can't imagine someone spending that kind of cash and not doing the right thing with them...unless they get street rodded.. THAT would be a real shame!
Geez...and to think we just crushed a bunch of those things last summer for 300.00 each and thought we were doing pretty good! (this was only a test to check your blood pressure jump)
That Olds in the movie with the steamroller wheels hanging 2 feet out of the rear wheelwells always cracked me up. Looked dumber that a Hotwheels car. lol
This isnt funny...cause theres a yard that my Dad use to take me to when i was a kid and the old guy had a 'section' of these. He did just that several years ago..I still hit that yard and everytime i go by that area i just sigh in disbelief that there all gone...I always dreamed of pulling one out and slapping a Hemi in it just like the movie but my reality knows i just dont have that kind of luck...
yeah, that car is ALL steel...and notice the rear fenders have NEVER been cut...yet! No, that is not a 392. Try bigger, much bigger! Over 500 cubes of Kilpatrick built Hemi that did over 825 HP on the dyno. Running on E85 corn squeezin's. The stock frame is already boxed, custom cross members built. Next, we are going to build a cage that will tie the frame altogether and then mount the body to the cage. No doubt it will take the power. that was my signature line on another forum. cl***ic! how about the bar scene where they're making car noises for a pitcher of beer! such a good movie.
I laughed at that too... And from 'Johnny Hurricane" in the timing tower------- 'The Rock and Roll Willys and the Disco Olds!!' Bopwop..thanks for the link..i'll be checking in to see how thing's are going
Tony- call me. I may have a source for a steel body if you really want one. At least all the right contacts if nothing else. I roll with those big dollar dudes without a penny to my name..LOL. Spike
My buddy picked up this gem a couple of years ago. steel body, gl*** nose and doors. they are out there still.. Spike
Hey Spike! Dude...that's cool what you did with that photo! You got's skills son! your buddy's car looks good! I know there's still stuff hidden away here and there...both my coupes were like that..it's a matter of digging them up or knowing the right people who can I'll call you this weekend anyway..Been a while. THANKS in advance on the info.. Chances are unless it's on the LOW side of the scale price wise i aint' gonna be a 'playa'.. I've gotta little something working right now because of this post. Not EXACTLY what i was looking for, but just about as good.......and from the same blood line....that's why i actually listed one of the 32's in the cl***ifieds.... Time will tell what becomes of it.. Tony
Any one want a hit of good Karma and line me up with a DVD. I have an old VHS with only half of the movie that I watch constantly. I was fortunate and watched the whole movie on tv when I was just a kid but wasn't in time to tape the whole thing. I would love to get a DVD if someone is willing to burn me a copy!
If i had a burner i'd hook you up, but i don't..In fact, now i don't even have the DVD...a friend took that the other night to watch..
do a google search, they are around and usually can be bought for under $20. Otherwise, next time you are at a swap meet, show or hotrod event, check out the vendors selling DVD's. This movie is usually in the mix.
If anyone wants one I will tell you how to get a decent copy of the movie in a new case and all . Just PM me .
Wait a minute!!!! You mean a "Pre War Willys" didnt come from the factory with a blown hemi!!?? (quote)You guy's shouldn't be such cheap skates !,... Just buy a new one !,... There only $495.00 (quote)
If interested in A gl*** body Pete from fast times sells the AC body this guy refered to. Pete is a great guy and quietly does awesome work. http://www.fasttimesrods.com/
I think there were actually two of the Olds'. One of them ( the one without a blower) was a bracket car around '80. I saw it run at the Samoa strip in Eureka. The owner was a nice guy, and he verified it was the car from the flick. I have a pic of it somewhere racing at Samoa, I'll see if I can locate it.
this one belongs to a hamberr that i went to high school with. pict was taking in 1982.. steel body with gl*** tilt fronted and rear fenders. i remember we used to ditch cl*** and go to his house and watch HOTROD over n over.
that cutl*** was **** ugly, but it would be cool as hell to see one on the steet or at the strip. I hope you find some pics.
that would be a *****en ride. get the 32 together and sell it to purchase the willy's roller (you might have to sell the Impala also..
