cool story for ya'll regarding gibbons:
my next door neighbor (until tomorrow when he moves) does custom audio installation for high end cars. he did a few of gibbons' cars and has some AWESOME pictures of them. cooler still: gibbons was a pinstriper for a long time and as a thank you to my neighbor, he gave him one of his guitars and pinstriped it!!! so cool. i've never met him, but my neighbor said that he is a great guy and very cool to work with.

then i discovered zz top f***en hell !!
and then .. my lord the man turns out to be a fellow gearhead .

Talked with him many times on the phone over the years and used to get a card from him every Christmas. First Class act all the way. Happy Birthday Billy!

 

Told this story before,
Went to NHRA Museum. He was there and signed some of his books for Darryl Roth and his brothers. Dennis showed me the business card Billy gave him. It says,Billy Gobbons...friend of Eric Clapton,LOL!!!!!

Got to see em in concert for the first time just a couple months ago. They just flat rocked. I can't play guitar, but he did things I have never seen anybody else do, just freaking incredible. My buddy Myers got to stripe some guitars for him awhile back, and I'm still jealous.

A swedish buddy of mine drove Bigzilla for a year way back when. When I asked him how it was and if he'd met the boys, he said he was at Billy's birthday party. They where sitting on his porch drinking beer playin' guitar. I'd kill for that. My friend also porked a famous showcar owner's aid....Got the pictures to prove it.

 

Class Act, Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player, Excellent taste in cars, Pinstripper, Plays great music......Happy B-Day William.

 

I tried to call Billy all day!! The message said he was downtown lookin for some tush!! Billy came in my store when he was playing in town, beer in hand, I said -Bily, be careful, the cops are mean about open containers, -he says-Thanks man, Screw em and laughed!!
