Never mind moving to California - come to New York where your skills are really needed! Don't t believe all those filthy lies about the weather. It's beautiful here...
TY for your reply I have a freind from Cali who will help me find somewhere to live Cheers John Gilbert
"Mexico" or "New Mexico"? Big difference. And I can tell you from experience that the state of New Mexico is a great place to live and work.
If you are a car guy, and that is a given because you are here, going to Indy is akin to car guy heaven. More stuff going on there than just about anywhere. However, don't give up on New York...
Take a look around before you settle on anything permanent, there are some great hot rod scenes all over the country. You will probably end up in some place you never dreamt of, or even heard of. Good luck.
Hey John, Stick with California, SF Bay Area or SoCal. Great weather, loads of car/bike stuff, some really talented folks too. I grew up in the midwest before moving here, there's no comparison. If you end up in the bay area I may be hiring some help this spring. Cheers, Joe
Thank you jmcglynn that sounds great here is a sample of my work the radiator shroud was hand made using a vibro shear ( spelling check lol )
Hey FantaC not to be a Buzz kill but what are you going to do for a Work Permit? I moved to Southern California 7 Years ago, It took me one year and a fair amount of money in Fees to get here from Canada and I Married a US Citizen....I know the shop I work for will not hire anyone with out the proper paperwork! Good Luck on the move. John
i am hoping my American gf will marry me Its been a long time dream of mine to goto America and to be able to work there would be the icing on my cake ty for your advice and yes it will be hard but i gotta try
Its tough now to get work permits, and expensive.. I married my American gal & it still took 3 months & OVER $3000 (5 years ago) to get my work permit & start my permanent residency application. It takes a further 2 years to get permanent resident status. A US entry visa is now only valid for 3 months also.
Dear John, Big Mike here in Santa Barbara. When you start work on the body of a car, say to paint it. Do you start on the left or right side first?
We will be staying in Australia and Visiting USA for a holiday . Thank you all for you reply`s . Maybe i can come check out some of your HotRods while im there John Giolbert
That's funny! I tried to apply for a work visa to oz yesterday, and they said i was too old! (45). So now i have to get a drilling company to sponser me! And you are trying to come here! I do wish you luck-it's an awesome place to work/live!
